Last week, Niantic shared details about two overlapping holiday events for Pokemon Go. The first began on December 25th and gave trainers increased odds of hatching Generation 2 Pokemon from eggs. The second begins on December 30th and boosts the spawn rate of Generation 1 starters like Charmander.

The first event kicked off on Christmas Day, but along with the Generation 2 infusion, Niantic also snuck limited-time item packs on to the store at a discounted rate (just in time for all those iTunes gift cards).

From December 25th to December 30th, Special, Great, and Ultra Boxes will be available to purchase in the in-game store for 250, 550 and 1500 PokeCoins, respectively. On the afternoon of December 30th through the afternoon of January 3rd, Bronze, Silver and Gold Boxes will take their place for 460, 980 and 2480 PokeCoins a piece. Below, we’ve put together a list of what you will find in each box:

  • Special Box: 10x Great Ball, 2x Egg Incubator
  • Great Box: 20x Great Ball, 2x Incense, 4x Egg Incubator
  • Ultra Box: 25x Incense, 6x Egg Incubator, 20x Ultra Ball

We won’t know the specific contents of the Bronze, Silver and Gold Boxes until December 30th, but Niantic says they will contain Incense, Lure Modules, Lucky Eggs, Poké Balls, and Great Balls. Check back here on Friday for an update to the list above that will include the three new boxes.

If you’ve been saving up PokeCoins and are looking for a smart way to spend them, these item packs might be the way to go. And remember, you only have a few more days until the first boxes are replaced.
