With the holiday season in full swing, Apple earlier today issued an off-beat press release listing off the top five best-selling holiday-themed movies of all-time on iTunes. While Apple typically releases best-of lists every single year, it’s always interesting when the company dives a bit deeper and gives us even more granular sales data.

Elf

Assuming the top spot is the Will Ferrell classic Elf. An oldie but a goodie, Elf hit theaters in 2003 and was a surprise comedic success.

National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation

Checking in at the number two spot is National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, arguably Chevy Chase’s second best movie behind 1983’s National Lampoon’s Vacation. While some comedies grow stale with time, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation holds up remarkably well and is well worth checking out if you haven’t  yet had the pleasure of watching it.

Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas

Filling up the third spot is Jim Carrey’s 2000 feature,  Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas.

Home Alone

An iconic classic for the ages, it’s no surprise to see Home Alone on the list. If anything, I’m surprised that it didn’t rank even higher.

The Polar Express

The most recent film on the list is 2004’s The Polar Express starring Tom Hanks.
