Apple fans, we have some good news and some bad news for you. The bad news is that Apple’s latest iOS 10.1 beta software still doesn’t unlock the sweet new dark mode feature we’ve all been waiting impatiently for ever since it was found hiding in iOS 10 this past summer. Seriously, Apple, just give us dark mode already! There is good news though, and it’s that Apple just released iOS 10.1 beta 2 with a number of bug fixes, refinements, new features and of course Portrait Mode for the iPhone 7 Plus, and we’re going to show you how to install it without the need for a developer account.

You paid anywhere from $650 to nearly $1,000 for that iPhone you’re using, and now you have to pay another $99 for a developer account so you can access the latest and greatest iOS software before anyone else? To be fair, Apple’s developer program is for, you know, developers. $99 is a bargain for all of the tools and resources available through the iOS developer program, but regular consumers still want access to Apple’s developer betas as well. After all, waiting an extra day for the public betas to be released is completely out of the question.

Apple made some changes recently to the way its iOS beta software works, and it’s now easier than ever to install beta software without a developer account. All you have to do is install Apple’s special iOS 10.1 beta profile — we won’t link to it here, but this site does — and the iOS 10.1 beta 2 update will instantly become available to you as an over the air (OTA) update.

The video embedded below from YouTube user iCrackUriDevice will walk you through the entire process to make it as easy as possible. The quick iOS 10.1 beta 2 installation walkthrough begins at about 4:04 if you want to skip the intro.
