Top Gear fans still miss Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May, especially since their replacements aren’t ready to turn the BBC show into something of their own. But the beloved trio that hosted Top Gear for so many years has been working on a different auto show. Called The Grand Tour and financed by Amazon, the show finally has a release date.
Amazon released a YouTube video to announce the launch of the show, after teasing it for months. The show will kick off November 18th, and you’ll need an Amazon Prime Video subscription to see it.
But don’t expect Amazon to release all new episodes of The Grand Tour at once – and yes, it’ll take some time until we get used to calling it anything but Top Gear. A new episode will only be available every Friday after the shows launches. Amazon purchased 36 episodes for now, so we expect plenty of Top Gear-like car action. After all, this is Clarkson, Hammond, and May that we’re talking about. We expect fast cars, unusual tests and competitions, and exotic locations. And lots of British humor. What could go wrong?
We still have no idea if there’s going to be any Stig-like mysterious character, but come November 18th we’ll find out the answer. As for BBC’s Top Gear? Well, now that The Grand Tour is finally coming out, Top Gear will probably have an even harder time.
