With the launch of the Buddy Pokemon update on Tuesday, many of you are jumping back in to the world of Pokemon Go for the first time in weeks. While you were away, there were plenty of other trainers who continued to level up and collect stronger Pokemon, so you’re probably going to struggle to compete at first.

Luckily, there are now a huge collection of free apps on the App Store and Google Play to help you work your way back up the ladder in the most efficient way possible. Below, we’ve collected four of the best free apps we could find.

DON’T MISS: You’ve never seen an iPhone that looks like this

1. Pokélab

pokelab

Pegged as an all-in-one companion app for Pokemon Go, the Pokélab app features a full Pokedex of every Pokemon in the game, an IV calculator, a CP calculator and the ability to search and sort through Pokemon based on their stats. If you don’t want to crowd your phone with half a dozen Pokemon apps, download Pokélab instead.

2. Go Radar

There’s one thing that Pokélab can’t do: Tell you where Pokemon are in your area. Although a vast majority of the tracking apps have been shut down, Go Radar uses crowdsourced data from players, which means they aren’t tapping into Niantic’s servers. Download it now and see if players in your area are uploading data.

3. Poké Win

Ok, this technically isn’t an app, but it’s so great on mobile that it deserved a spot on this list. Poké Win shows that stats of every Pokemon in the game and tells you which Pokemon counter them. If you’re more interested in the competitive aspect of the game than you are in simply catching ’em all, visit PokeWin.win today.

4. Speed Overlay

This one’s a little out of left field, but it can be extremely useful if you bike while playing Pokemon Go. On Reddit, one such user found an app called Speed Overlay on Google Play which lets you drag a small bubble over any app on your phone that will show you how fast you’re going. Pokemon Go doesn’t track movement for egg hatching or Buddy walking if you’re going faster than 10.5 km/h, so using this app, you can ensure you’re never going too fast for the game to track your movement.
