We’ve waited a long time for Negan to show up in The Walking Dead – and we’re now waiting to see who he killed – but the creators of the popular AMC zombie series are already casting a brand new major character who might appear in the show as soon as the first half of season 7. Beware, because some spoilers follow below.
According to CinemaBlend, the producers are casting for a character known as Brion, who is supposed to be an “educated, poker-face leader” and who could be in charge of a different faction. Brion is apparently a cool-headed leader, and the goal of this character would be to ensure the survival of his or her group.
The producers are looking for either a male or a female for the role. The character should appear in episode 10 and episode 12, and could return for the final two episodes of season 7.
While Negan is going to be the main cause of concern for our favorite heroes in the upcoming season, is not clear who Brion is supposed to be, and whether the creators plan to stick to the comics.
CinemaBlend says the only major male leader coming soon is Pete from Oceanside. So that’s not Brion. Instead, Brion might be a version of Magna, a “tough-as-nails leader of a small nickname-less group that Jesus finds on a dangerous outing.” Or it could be The Whisperers’ Alpha, but if that’s the case, then the role should be played by a female because “femininity is a very important part of all aspects of her character.”
That said, we’ll just have to wait and see who is going to get the part. Meanwhile, The Walking Dead returns to AMC on Sunday, October 23rd.
