Although Marvel has had a few swings and misses at the box office over the years, their partnership with Netflix has yet to produce a dud. Both seasons of Daredevil, as well as the first season of Jessica Jones, received praise from critics and fans alike, and quickly become two of the most popular Netflix original series to date.

Unfortunately, despite their popularity, we’re probably going to have to wait at least 18 months before we see new seasons of either show.

During the Television Critics Association press tour, Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos reiterated to the audience that Luke Cage will be the next Marvel show to hit the streaming service on September 30th.

After that, we’ll see Iron Fist and The Defenders, followed by the third season of Daredevil and season season of Jessica Jones.

Although no specific release dates have been revealed for any Marvel show other than Luke Cage, we know for a fact that The Defenders will debut in 2017, according to its teaser trailer. Therefore, we also know that Iron Fist will also arrive in 2017, and up to this point, Netflix has only released two Marvel shows a year.

So providing the pace remains the same, Sarandos has all but confirmed that we won’t see new seasons of Daredevil or Jessica Jones until 2018.

As for The Punisher, Netflix has already revealed that a season is in the works, but Sarandos was unwilling to provide any concrete information about when we might see the breakout star of Daredevil season 2 again.
