Apple’s 2015 release of iOS 9 was a hotly anticipated update mainly because the prior year’s mobile software, iOS 8, fell short of people’s expectations in some ways. With iOS 9, however, Apple not only added a number of new features but also cleaned up the software to iron out many of the wrinkles users had been complaining about.

iOS 9 isn’t done being updated just yet. Apple released iOS 9.2.1 on Tuesday and another upcoming release, iOS 9.3, adds several of new features such as Night Shade and additional 3D Touch shortcuts. But Apple will unveil iOS 10 later this year during its annual Worldwide Developer Conference, and expectations are high to say the least.

While Apple’s new feature additions for iOS 10 remain a mystery, it looks like the date on which iOS 10 will be unveiled was likely just uncovered by some simple sleuthing.

Each year, Apple holds its WWDC conference in June at the Moscone West convention center in San Francisco, California. The large facility has plenty of room for the thousands of developers in attendance and a nice big event hall provides enough space for the annual keynote. Well, almost enough space — there are several spill-over rooms that are always filled to capacity as well.

During said keynote, Apple always unveils the next versions of its mobile and desktop software that will be released later in the year. In 2016, the mobile software in question will be iOS 10.

MacRumors poked around the Moscone website and took a look at the June schedule, which just so happens to be completely booked up aside from a single week in the middle of the month. Due to an agreement with Apple, the Moscone Center never publicly confirms an WWDC event until Apple has first announced the conference publicly.

Long story short, the big gap you see on the calendar below is when Apple will hold its WWDC 2016 event, and the keynote at which iOS 10 will be unveiled will take place on the first day of the show.

Of course nothing is official until Apple makes the announcement later this year, but if you’re an iOS or OS X developer you should probably leave that week open in your schedule.
