It might not get the same reception as Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight is definitely one of the must-see films of the season. The movie is not even out yet, but it already leaked online with less than a week to go until it premieres.

According to TorrentFreak, The Hateful Eight isn’t the only movie to have leaked out well ahead of its Christmas debut, with other blockbusters including Creed, The Revenant, Steve Jobs, Legend and Joy having made their way to torrent sites.

The reason these movies have hit illegal sites earlier than expected is that the awards season is closing in, which means judges for Golden Globes, Oscars and BAFTAs have already received review copies of the movies for review, so some of them have made their way online.

What’s interesting about these leaked copies of Hateful Eight is that they’re already high-quality versions of the movie that typically come out on torrent sites long after a movie’s theatrical debut. The first types of movie leaks are usually low-quality copies recorded illegally in theaters, with DVD screener-quality versions emerging on torrent sites later down the road.

One of the groups that leaked the Tarantino’s latest movie is called Hive-CM8, and it brags that The Hateful Eight is just the first DVD screener-quality movie of 40 such releases that should follow in the near future – not that we’d ever encourage you to search for either The Hateful Eight or any other movies on illegal download sites.

The Hateful Eight will hit theaters this Friday, December 25th.
