There’s too much television.

That seems to be the consensus among both critics and fans alike, but for the majority of us, it’s a good problem to have. If you can’t find anything on a network, there’s probably something for you on a cable channel. If cable doesn’t cut it, HBO and Showtime might fill the void. If you’re still at a loss, you can look to NetflixHulu and Amazon instead.

There is a show for everyone out there, which makes it especially difficult to pick the best shows on TV. Thankfully, Metacritic has done the heavy lifting and rounded up the best shows based on dozens of top ten lists from around the Web.

Here are the top ten shows of 2015, averaged from 44 lists:

  1. Fargo (FX)
  2. Mad Men (AMC)
  3. Mr. Robot (USA)
  4. Master of None (Netflix)
  5. The Americans (FX)
  6. Transparent (Amazon)
  7. The Leftovers (HBO)
  8. The Jinx (HBO)
  9. UnReal (Lifetime)
  10. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt (Netflix)

HBO, Netflix and FX each managed to get two shows into the top 10, while AMC and Amazon just missed with Better Call Saul (AMC) and Catastrophe (Amazon) tying at the #11 spot.

If you’ve been paying attention to the critical response to the shows of 2015, this list probably won’t come as much of a surprise. Fargo has been lauded as one of the best dramas throughout both of its seasons, Mr. Robot took the world by storm when it debuted on USA Network earlier this year and The Leftovers returned with a vengeance for its second year.

UnReal is the only surprise of the bunch, and it’s one of the few shows on the list I haven’t seen even a single episode of, but all the praise is beginning to make me curious.
