Video shows lightning bolt barely missing passenger plane just before landing

We’ve seen our fair share of scary landings in the past with skilled pilots who are able to deal perfectly with harsh ground conditions and perform admirable landings. The following video will once again show a pilot evading a potentially deadly obstacle, and this time lightning bolts are involved.

Captured by storm chaser Daniel Shaw in Australia, the short video stars a Qantas passenger jet landing in Sydney during a thunderstorm. Lightning strikes rather close to the cockpit of the plane though it’s not clear how close the bolt hits the ground. However, the lightning doesn’t hit the airplane, which continues its course unabated, landing safely on the designated runway.

That, however, doesn’t make the video any less scary, and the passengers seated on the left side of the plane must have been terrified by the enormity of that lightning strike. The full video of the event follows below.
