One of the most highly anticipated releases of the holiday season is getting a beta. PlayStation announced on Tuesday that the PS4 beta for Star Wars Battlefront will open in “early October,” over a month before the game launches. According to the blog post, the beta will be a “technical test,” featuring three distinct modes to play.

If you make it into the beta, you’ll be able to play Walker Assault on Hoth, which you’ve likely seen in every pre-release video for the game already. It’s a 40-player multiplayer battle between the Rebels and the Empire where you’ll be able to take on the roles of Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader.

The beta will also include the Survival Mission on Tatooine — another mission which has been featured in countless preview videos. The Survival Mode is in effect taking the place of a single-player campaign, so if you want to get a taste of Battlefront without 39 other players, this is the mode you’ll want to check out.

The post also unveiled that a new mode called Drop Zone will be available to players during the beta, but details have not been announced yet. The Star Wars Battlefront Companion experience will also hit the official Battlefront site during the beta, giving players the opportunity to gain Credits, check their in-game stats and play the card game Base Command.

UPDATE: As the official Star Wars Battlefront website clearly states, the beta will extend to Xbox One and PC users as well. Looks like we’ll all get to join in on the fun!

Star Wars Battlefront will be available for PS4, Xbox One and PC on November 17th.
