Like it or not, life constantly brings you in the sort of scenarios where you need to swear, and thanks to the Internet, you can do that online nowadays. While not everybody uses the same bad words, it turns out that some people tend to have similar cursing habits depending on where they live. A linguist looked at what kind of curse words people tweet and created heat maps of the U.S. for them.

Jack Grieve analyzed more than 9 billion words from geocoded tweets published from October 2013 to November 2014, Gizmodo reports, looking at the relative usage of several swear words across the U.S.

In the maps that follow, the red areas indicate regions of the U.S. where a certain word is used frequently, while blue areas indicate states where people are less likely to use that particular word. Check them out below and it goes without saying: They’re not safe for work.
