You wouldn’t expect an iPhone 6 case to be dangerous, but it turns out that someone came up with an idea so awful that it can actually put lives at risk. The protective device might spare the handset from breaks if it’s dropped… and it might also get the owner killed in the process.

The iPhone case in question is shaped like the grip of a handgun, which is left sticking out of the user’s pocket. Now, imagine what cops would think if they see you walking with down the street with something like this in your pocket:

The case also comes with an app that puts the picture of a gun barrel on the screen of the device. The accessory costs between $10 to $49, and comes in black, white and pink options that fit either iPhone 6 and iPhone 5/5s models.

According to NY Daily News, cops and anti-gun advocates already see the iPhone case as a “deathtrap,” asking for it to be banned from sale in stores and on the Internet.

“This is the stupidest, most dangerous thing I’ve ever seen,” one former cop said.

“I would NOT suggest purchasing this cell phone case, which is designed to look like a firearm,” a tweet from the NYPD’s 112th Precinct in Queens read.

“If I were a cop, and it was dark and I saw this (case) on a person, my first thought would be to pull my gun and defuse the threat,” Brooklyn community activist Tony Herbert said.
