If only they’d had this when we were still in college. Chicago Eater brings us news that a Chicago Taco Bell is applying for a liquor license, which would make it the first Taco Bell in America to sell booze.

Taco Bell is applying for a liquor license for a new Taco Bell franchise in the Wicker Park neighborhood that will also feature a “completely new urban restaurant design.” In other words, it sounds like Taco Bell is going for a more upscale vibe in this location… and yes, we just burst out laughing after using the words “Taco Bell” and “upscale” in the same sentence.

At any rate, we hope that this fancy-pants Taco Bell actually invests in some quality liquor, although given what we know about the chain, shots of cheap tequila and bottles of Dos Equis are the best we can hope for. Even so, having the option to get wasted on tequila might even make dishes like the chicken biscuit taco seem appetizing.
