Apple doesn’t want you to go swimming while wearing your Apple Watch… but you probably can if you want to without damaging the device. DC Rainmaker recently decided to put the Apple Watch through some extensive water tests to see just how much the device could take and the website found Apple’s first wearable computer is much more waterproof than Apple is letting on.

First, the watch got subjected to a 1,000-meter swim in which it came out of the water still functioning properly. Then the watch survived being worn during high dives into the pool of both 8 meters and 10 meters. And finally, DC Rainmaker put the Apple Watch through a rigorous test in a “dreaded waterproofing chamber” that simulated the pressure the device would be under when 40 meters underwater.

Amazingly, the Apple Watch came out of the chamber still working fine even though Apple says the device can only be submerged in up to one meter of water.

“I’m impressed, it’s still chugging along after that – with not a single sign of any issues at all,” writes DC Rainmaker. “Clearly this is all more than adequate for any sort of casual sweat or showering.  Though I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out over the next few weeks just in case.”
