Fancy yourself an amateur photographer looking to further hone your skills? If so, Kickstarter has an accessory you absolutely have to check out, because it might solve one of your biggest problems: access to the right kind of light for specific shots. Dubbed Adaptalux, the device is actually “a portable macro photography and videography adaptable lighting studio,” and you have three days left to make sure it launches later this year.

The Adaptalux is actually a modular accessory for your camera, allowing a photographer to build exactly the kind of lightning environment he or she wants.

The device has three components, including a Control Pod, bendable Lightning Arms that provide light in various colors and connect to the Control Pod, and Effect Components that further enhance lightning effects by connecting to the ends of the Lightning Arms.

Unsurprisingly, the product will also have its own mobile app that will be compatible with iPhone, Android and Windows phones.

So far, Adaptalux has raised more than £96,000 from 440 backers, and it’s very close to reaching its £100,000 funding goal. The cheapest Adaptalux pack costs £100 and includes a Control Pod, two Lightning Arms (one in white and one in a color of your choice), a diffuser of your choice and a color filter of your choice. Assuming the campaign is fully funded, Adaptalux kits will ship anywhere in the world beginning sometime in November.

Videos showing the Adaptalux in action follows below, while amazing photo samples taken using the lightning system are available on Flickr.
