A couple of reports out of China have recently suggested that Google might be partnering up with at least one company in the region for a next-gen Nexus device. One of the recent rumors even went ahead and singled out one particular Chinese company, while adding that LG might also be in the running to make a future Nexus device.

GizmoChina is now back with more details on the matter, saying it has received confirmation on which company will build the Nexus 6’s successor.

FROM EARLIER: Hands-on with the best Android smartwatch that has ever been made

The blog quotes a Weibo message supposedly posted by iSuppli’s Director of China Research Kevin Yang, who apparently said that Huawei has been chosen for the next Nexus. The executive did not give out any other details about this year’s Nexus device, though in all fairness, it’s likely way too early for more information to trickle out.

On a different note, Huawei has pleasantly surprised attendees at MWC 2015 by launching a gorgeous Android Wear device, the Huawei Watch, which might just be the best smartwatch running on Google’s platform so far.
