Google Now is easily one of my favorite mobile services. In fact, it’s probably one of the best things to happen to mobile devices in years. The service serves a number of different functions, but the easiest way to describe it is this: Google Now gives you information you need… before you even know you need it. I use Google Now constantly on my Android devices and on my iPhone, where the service lives inside the Google Search app.
Google Now is packed full of fantastic features, but there’s one simple one in particular that I have been waiting for — and now it has just been added.
When you’re using Google for directions and travelling your route, sometimes it’s nice to know where gas stations are along your path before it’s too late. It seems like a simple request that many people would appreciate, but it’s not something that any Google apps provide by default. Until now, that is.
As noted on Google+ by Kevin McLaughlin, there’s a new card that has begun appearing for some users in Google Now. While following directions, this new Google Now card will pop up and show you all the gas stations on your route.
A screenshot below from McLaughlin shows the new card in action.
It’s simple enough, but this is yet another example of how Google is making our smartphones even smarter with new feature additions in Google Now.
