If you think American Google engineers are wacky, just wait until you see what Googlers in Japan come up with. Google Japan has posted a new video made by Japanese Google employees in which they set up more than 300 different Android devices as a virtual choir to sing the “Ode to Joy” from Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9.

Why did they do this, you ask? There’s no apparent reason other than it was a cool idea. The phones, which each have their own individual Android cartoon avatars that sing along, aren’t exactly going to give the Tanglewood Festival Chorus a run for their money, but this is still very fun to watch, even though the Japanese Googlers inexplicably decided to add a third-rate hip-hop beat to Beethoven’s masterwork.
