Netflix is a service that cord cutters can’t live without, and even those of us who still pay for TV have come to rely on Netflix’s inexpensive service for unlimited on-demand streaming of millions of movies and TV shows. For just $7.99 each month, Netflix subscribers can stream to any number of computers, TVs, tablets or smartphones, and the company touts a massive library of content to choose from.

Of course, that huge content library is both a blessing and a curse, because users often complain that it is extremely difficult to find good movies and shows to watch.

That’s where FlickSurfer comes in.

Via The Loop, FlickSurfer is a well-made web app that serves one purpose and one purpose only: It helps you find things to watch on Netflix.

On the FlickSurfer homepage, movies and TV shows are displayed along with ratings from three different sources, including Netflix user ratings, IMDB ratings and Rotten Tomato scores. A fourth score, which is an average rating that takes all three scores into account, is also displayed.

Titles can then be arranged by the date they were added to Netflix, or by one of the four aforementioned ratings.

While Netflix does an increasingly good job of recommending new content to watch, FlickSurfer is even better because it takes multiple sources into account when recommending content. It can also drill content down by type (movies or TV shows) and by genre.

Where the app currently falls short is in the realm of personalization. Since there are no user accounts, FlickSurfer doesn’t have access to users’ histories and therefore cannot recommend content based on historical data.

FlickSurfer is a web app that works on all computers and mobile devices, and it’s linked below in our source section.
