If the rumors are to be believed, CES 2015 is shaping up to be a TV fan’s dream come true. Digitimes reports that LG and Sony will debut a brand new slate of 8K and quantum dot televisions in January, just in case you were already bored with the 4K display in your living room.

The report also states that LG will introduce its Art Slim series for LCD panels at the event. The 55-inch and 65-inch televisions will be 7.5mm and 8.2mm thick, respectively, representing some of the slimmest TVs on the market. They’ll also weigh at least 25% less than most TVs of the same size.

Higher resolutions and larger sizes are expected to be the norm in 2015. In fact, market observers say that 55% of total TV shipments will consist of TVs with 40-inch displays or larger. If you’ve been waiting to buy a TV, it might be worth holding off for a few more days until the vendors announce their new wares at CES.

Speaking of which, we’ll be at CES this year! If there are new 8K TVs on the show floor, expect coverage on the site next week after the show begins.
