Google employees work hard but they seem to absolutely love it. People who work for the search titan are routinely listed as the happiest employees in the world and Google almost obsessively works on new ways to keep them satisfied with their jobs. And now a new story relayed to us via Business Insider shows why Google is so beloved by its workers: It takes the time to personally answer a letter sent by one employee’s daughter asking the company to give her dad a day off.

It all started off when one Googler’s daughter Katie wrote the company an adorable letter that was, of course, written in crayon asking if Google could “please make sure when daddy goes to work, he gets one day off… because daddy ONLY gets a day off on Saturday.” To emphasize her point, Katie also noted that “It is daddy’s BIRTHDAY” and “It is summer, you know.”

This letter caught the attention of Google senior design manager Daniel Shiplacoff, who wrote back to Katie explaining that her father “has been hard at work designing many beautiful and delightful things for Google and millions of people across the globe.” Nonetheless, Shiplacoff was sympathetic with her pleas to spend more time with her father this summer and said that Google would give him the entire first week of July off as vacation time.

All told, this is a very classy move by Google and one that was surely appreciated by Katie’s father.
