Google (GOOG) updated its Nexus line of smartphones and tablets to Android 4.2.2 this week. It was initially reported that the update included a variety of bug fixes and security enhancements, however Brian Klug of AnandTech noticed that it also removes unofficial LTE support on the Nexus 4. It was discovered in November that Google’s flagship smartphone was equipped with a radio that was capable of running on LTE networks in Canada and select AT&T markets in the United States. But the latest Android update includes both software changes and a new baseband software image for the Nexus 4 that have effectively disabled LTE on the device.
