Pantech ups the ante in the ‘phablet’ wars with a monster 5.9-inch full HD display

Pantech on Monday announced the largest full HD smartphone to date. The Vega No. 6 is equipped with a 5.9-inch full HD display with a pixel resolution of 1920 x 1080, and includes a 1.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor and a 13-megapixel rear camera that is said to be “comparable to a DSLR.” The handset also features 2GB of RAM, NFC, LTE, a 2-megapixel front-facing camera, 32GB of internal storage, a microSD slot, a 3,150 mAh battery and runs Android 4.1 skinned with Pantech’s own Flux UX user interface. The Vega No. 6 will launch on all three South Korean carriers in February and will cost roughly $780 for a SIM-free model. Pantech did not announce plans for additional markets.
