The death of a pop music icon, the rise of a South Korean rapper and a deadly hurricane were what Google (GOOG) users were most interested in learning about in 2012. Google’s annual Zeitgeist report released on Wednesday shows that “Whitney Houston,” “Gangnam Style” and “Hurricane Sandy” were the three most popular Google searches in 2012, followed by “iPad 3,” “Kate Middleton” and “Olympics 2012.” As the only gadget in the overall top ten searches, the new iPad obviously topped Google’s list of consumer electronics choices in 2012. Other popular gadgets on Google included the Samsung (005930) Galaxy S III, the iPad mini, Google’s own Nexus 7 tablet, and Samsung’s Galaxy Note II.
