One of the craziest tablets to come out of this year’s CES was Razer’s “Project Fiona” tablet. The gaming company’s CEO Min-Liang Tan said he wanted to build a completely different sort of tablet – one that was the complete opposite of an iPad or Android tablet. Much like the Wikipad, the Fiona tablet concept had dual-analogs, and enough buttons to satisfy any console gamer. Where Fiona differed was its ability to play full-fledged PC games such as Skyrim and World of Warcraft natively, whereas Wikipad can only play PC games streamed from the cloud. Although the tablet was originally announced as a concept device and nothing more, Tan announced on his Facebook (FB) page Wednesday that if the device’s page gets 10,000 “likes” or shares within the first seven days, Razer will begin work on turning the project into a real product.

So what will this tablet look like? From what we’ve seen it will be a relatively chunky breakfast-tray looking “gaming tablet” that also has PC-parts: Intel Core i7 Ivy Bridge processor and Windows 7. It’s also been touted with a 10.1-inch (1280 x 800 resolution) display, force feedback and THX-certified sound. Tan’s Facebook post has already received over 8,800 likes and over 3,500 shares in its first 20 hours. At this rate, hitting 10,000 likes and shares shouldn’t be difficult.

Tan said back at CES that Razer was shooting to deliver the Project Fiona tablet by Q4 2012 for under $1,000. It will be interesting to see whether the company can deliver on that promise. Razer recently released a refreshed model of its first Blade gaming notebook.
