Motorola confirms acquisition of facial-recognition tech company Viewdle

Following a number of rumors from earlier this week, Motorola Mobility on Wednesday confirmed that it has acquired image and gesture recognition company Viewdle, TechCrunch reports. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed, however the deal is rumored to have been in the $30 million to $45 million range. The Ukrainian-based Viewdle markets facial recognition technology that can automatically tags photos, among other things. It is speculated that Google (GOOG) will integrate the service into its Motorola smartphones and its Google+ social network.
