An unnamed source has told The Verge that AT&T plans on rolling out a new service on July 10th that will help users more easily block thieves from using stolen devices without going through the hassle of a full SIM block. According to a guidance notice AT&T reportedly sent out to its customer service representatives this week, AT&T subscribers will be able to “request the stolen device be blocked from use by others on the AT&T network” and also add any additional stolen tablet or phone to their blocklist. Only customers who made the initial block request for a device can get that specific device unblocked according to the report, which The Verge says suggests AT&T “will keep a central list of blocked phones matched to customers.”
