The upcoming new edition to Nokia’s XpressMusic line has just officially made its way through the FCC and it looks like a fine edition to the family. Don’t get too excited though; it’s only the Euro-spec version. There is word of a NAM counterpart on its way but we have not yet seen the FCC grant it approval. Specs of interest:

  • Network: GSM 850/900/1800/1900 and UMTS 850/2100
  • Operating System: Series 40 Edition 5th Edition
  • Display: 2.2 inch TFT, 16M colors, 240 x 320 pixels
  • Memory: 20MB internal, microSD up to 4GB
  • Camera: 3.15-megapixel with secondary VGA for video-calling
  • Connectivity: Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR and USB 2.0
  • FM Radio and music player with dedicated music buttons
  • Battery: Li-ion 900 mAh
  • Weight: 111 grams
  • Dimensions: 98.5 x 48.5 x 17 mm

As you can see above, the 2100 UMTS listing means no US 3G so we’ll have to wait on that one. The 5610 is definitely a decent looking music phone though, with a nice camera to round it off. In fact, this is very much the type of phone that could see carrier branding once the NAM version comes through with US 3G compatibility. 2008 for Nokia will supposedly be the year of the US, but only time will tell.
