Is your printer killing you?

A new study by the Queensland University of Technology in Australia is now suggesting that certain printers have been emitting dangerous particles into the air while under normal operation. These particles, when inhaled, could have the same effects as cigarette smoke. The issues increase when a toner cartridge is new, or detailed images are being spit out. “The health effects from inhaling ultra-fine particles depend on particle composition, but the results can range from respiratory irritation to more severe illness such as cardiovascular problems or cancer,” Professor Lidia Morawska, the study’s author, tells The Age. We will now hold our breaths while you move your printer into another room.
