Rumors have been floating around lately that a new, flash-based version of the iPod would be running its way up the food chain soon. Prior to now, video iPods have always been HDD-based. When news surfaced that Apple was planning monthly Q3 orders of NAND flash memory (presumably to meet additional demand), the rumor bug caught on. However, now information is swirling that, because of recent price trends, it won’t make sense for Apple to release said product this year, as the price wouldn’t be competitive. There is an option, though, that a lower-capacity version could hit our shores and still maintain a sensible price-point.
