File this one under rumors for the time being, but a rather reputable electronics industry mag seems to think that Nokia might be gearing up to make a bid for RIM. The statement was mentioned in passing, with the exact quote reading: “There were other rumors last week. Oracle was rumored to make a bid for SAP, Nokia would make a bid to buy Research in Motion, and Tokyo Electron Ltd. (TEL) would buy Lam Research Corp., according to SG Cowen Securities Inc. (New York).” As far as we can tell, this is pretty much coming out of the blue, so we have reason to doubt its legitimacy. That being said, the source has a long history of accurate reporting, so it’s not out of the realm of possibility. Stay tuned for more information if it materializes. In the mean time, what are your thoughts on a potential merger between the Finnish juggernaut and the Canadian underdog?
