With rumors of something new being cooked up at U.S. Apple Stores later this week, widespread speculation swept the Web suggesting Apple would finally take the wraps off its updated Sandy Bridge-powered MacBook Air notebooks. According to well-known and well-sourced iOS developer Chronic, that won’t be the case. Instead, for the first time, Apple plans to offer unlocked iPhone 4 models directly to consumers beginning Wednesday. Part numbers break down as follows: MC603 (16GB, Black) MC604 (16GB, White) MC605 (32GB, Black) MC606 (32GB, White). While pricing has not yet been confirmed, expect to pay a pretty penny for the new contract-free iPhones. More →
Look, there’s not too much to say here… you’re looking at an Apple iPhone 4 in white, instead of black. Yes, it’s an amazingly beautiful white handset — probably the cleanest we’ve ever seen — yes, it’s not available until tomorrow, and yes, people in Hong Kong are already lining up for it right now. But we’re just happy we can finally put all this madness behind us… after you check out our exclusive hands-on gallery, of course!
Keeping up with the white iPhone 4 saga over the past few months? Well, you’ll be happy it’s all coming to a close this Wednesday. With that said, if you’re completely strung out and waiting for a white iPhone 4 32GB unit, you might be in for a rough come down. We have got a hold of an internal AT&T UPS shipping invoice which clearly details that 20 white iPhone 4 16GB devices are destined for a specific AT&T store. Unfortunately, there are no 32GB units that are incoming. So sad.
According to a hidden page on ThreeUK’s website spotted by 9to5 Mac, the white iPhone 4 could be delivered to some customers as soon as this Wednesday, April 20th. Apple has failed to launch the white version of the iPhone 4 in the 10 months since it made the official announcement, but earlier this year the Cupertino based company confirmed that it would launch the new hue this spring — after which floods of information about the device’s launch date began to spill. In March, an analyst suggested that Apple would begin shipping the device in April. Just last week, sources confirmed to Bloomberg and The Wall Street Journal that the launch was imminent and would likely occur in the coming weeks. If you’ve been holding off for a white iPhone, it looks like your wait is coming to an end. More →
According to Bloomberg, Apple will launch the long awaited white version of its iPhone 4 sometime during the “next few weeks.” Apple has failed to produce a white version in the 10 months since it’s original announcement, although the new hue will be available on both Verizon Wireless and AT&T. This information appears to be in-line with earlier analyst predictions that Apple would release the device in April. More →
The devil’s in the details, at least that’s what they say. End-users combing through Apple’s latest iTunes 10.2 update have unearthed several interesting artifacts — images of the white iPhone in both the AT&T and Verizon flavors. The AT&T icon has been included in the program’s contents since the albino smartphone was first promised back in June of last year. The white Verizon iPhone , complete with it’s second diversity antenna break, however, was added recently. Last week, Apple’s VP of worldwide marketing, Phil Schiller, took to Twitter to let a curious user know that a white iPhone would be available “this spring.” It’s widely assumed that the iDevice maker will announce an update to its smartphone, being called the iPhone 5, in the June/July timeframe. Connecting the two dots, many thought — present company included — that the white iPhone Schiller was referring to would be delivered in the form of the iPhone 5. The addition of these white, iPhone 4-lookalike icons could mean one of three things: the iPhone 4 will continue to be sold in both black and white, even after the release of the iPhone 5; the next iPhone looks identical to the previous model; or there is no iPhone 5 coming this summer. It also could be the Cupertino company messing with us, and if that is the case, good on ya Apple. More →
Phil Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of worldwide marketing, has reaffirmed that his company does plan to release a white iPhone “this spring.” Responding to a user question on Twitter — of all places — the VP stated, “The white iPhone will be available this spring (and it is a beauty!).” Apple is expected to release its next generation smartphone sometime in June — meaning the phone that Schiller is referring to could be the iPhone 5, not the iPhone 4. We’ve reached out to Apple for comment and will update this post with any relevant information provided. More →
We’ve just heard that AT&T retail stores won’t be selling the beefiest iPad 2 model today. Apparently, AT&T stores have received 16GB and 32GB iPad 2 models in black and white, but the highest capacity version is noticeably absent. Perhaps this is due to a supply issue or just the fact that Apple and AT&T have forecast that the majority of consumers will purchase 16GB and 32GB iPads, but it’s a tad bit interesting. We have reached out to AT&T for comment and will update this post accordingly. As for Verizon Wireless stores, we recommend customers call ahead of time to check if their local store will be carrying the iPad 2 at all today. We’ve been told not all Verizon locations will have them in stock but they can all place orders on site. The Verizon Wireless locations that will carry the iPad 2 today should be receiving the 64GB model, we’ve been told.
UPDATE: We have confirmed AT&T stores do not have 64GB models for sale later today, and we have confirmed that Verizon stores that are selling the iPad 2 do have 64GB models. Additionally, our local Apple store does not have Verizon iPad 2 units for sale. Very interesting…
According to Concord Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple will begin production of the white iPhone 4 this month, with shipping to begin sometime in April. Kuo states that Apple made a change to the “film material” used on the inside of the outer-casing that had been causing a “lamination” issue on white models. If true, the timing is a bit peculiar. Apple is expect to unveil its next-generation iPhone — being called the iPhone 5 for now — in June of this year, giving the albino iPhone 4 a mere two months at the top of the iThing totem pole. Are any of you Apple fans crazy enough to buy a white iPhone 4 in April or May? More →
Apple has just gone and done it, boys and girls — the next generation iPad is now official. Moments ago, Steve Jobs just announced the new iPad, the iPad 2 — surprise, it’s pretty much what we were suspecting. Here are some key specifications right from the man himself:
- Apple A5 processor, dual core CPU
- 2x CPU speed, 9x graphics speed improvement
- Front and rear cameras
- 33% thinner, 13.4mm to 8.8mm thin — thinner than an iPhone 4, and lighter than the previous iPad
- AT&T and Verizon models, white and black iPads
- Same original iPad battery life, over 10 hours of usage and a month of standby time
Pricing for the new iPad lines up exactly with the original model: iPad Wi-Fi will be available in 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB capacitties for $499, $599, and $699 respectively. The iPad Wi-Fi + 3G will be available in the aforementioned sizes for $629, $729, and $829. The new model will go on sale in just under two weeks starting in the U.S. with many more countries joining in on March 25th. More →
The white iPhone 4 has yet to come to fruition, but it looks like that hasn’t deterred Apple from experimenting with future, pale products. According to 9 to 5 Mac, Apple is working on a white iteration of its yet-to-be-announced iPad 2. The information comes courtesy of the above image, which is purportedly a white bezel (also known as the digitizer) from the next generation iPad. The above bezel looks extremely similar to leaked images of the black digitizer that have been circulating the Web. It also appears to match the design of potential iPad 2 screen protectors revealed earlier this month. Hit the jump for a second image showing the rear side of the panel, and sit tight until March 2nd when all this should be hashed out. More →
Sony Ericsson’s Xperia Play in a black tuxedo not doing it for you? If you’re living under O2’s coverage area in the UK, you have an exclusive offering — the Xperia Play in white, complete with matching dock. If you are outside the UK, though, there’s still hope as availability of the white device outside of the UK hasn’t been announced just yet. A shot of the front of the handset after the break! More →
Following our report earlier this week, BGR has learned that AT&T removed references to the white iPhone 4 from its online account management tool (OLAM) on Thursday. The pale phone had appeared in a drop down menu accessible from AT&T’s customer profile editor. But evidence that a white iPhone 4 will soon launch continues to mount. Apple enthusiast blog 9 to 5 Mac points out that images of a white iPhone have recently appeared on Apple’s Australian website as well as its German site, before being removed. According to earlier unconfirmed reports, the white iPhone 4 may finally become available toward the end of February. More →
