White Nokia Lumia 800 Windows Phone to launch later this month

Nokia on Monday officially took the wraps off a white version of its Lumia 800 Windows Phone.  Nokia originally launched the device in black and cyan, and the white version adopts a gloss finish instead of the matte coloring of the other models. Nokia says the device will be made available later this month. “Since we began selling it late last year, the Nokia Lumia 800 has received rave reviews around the world,” said Ilari Nurmi, Vice President of Product Marketing, Nokia. “Now in white, the Lumia 800 brings with it an even more premium look and feel with its gloss finish, but packed with power and performance underneath its sleek body.” Nokia’s full press release follows after the break. All white Samsung Galaxy Tabs emerge in Vietnam

Samsung has released white versions of several of the company’s mobile devices lately. While the back of the various devices would be white, the front bezel around the screen typically remained black — that is, until now.  It would appear that Samsung has been working on a white bezel to integrate into the company’s future milky-colored devices;  a white Galaxy Tab 10.1 and Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus have emerged in Vietnam and feature truly all white design. The specs of the Tab 10.1 and Tab 7.0 Plus remain unchanged, reports claim. No pricing or availability details have been announced. More →

White Galaxy Nexus coming to the UK in February

There is something about white devices that tends to revitalize people’s interest in a smartphone. In the past year numerous, Android devices have been released in black or gray, only to be re-released in white a few months later. We have seen the DROID Incredible 2, Galaxy S II line and even the Nexus S in white. According to Clove and MobileFun, two UK retailers, a white variant of the Galaxy Nexus should arrive in early February. The internals are exactly the same as its gray counterpart and pricing shouldn’t be different either. Unfortunately, there is no indication that Verizon Wireless will release a white version, however, we wouldn’t rule it out. AT&T may launch white Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket

AT&T may launch white Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket

AT&T may soon launch a white version of its Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket smartphone. The carrier introduced a black model of the phone earlier this month; it is a bit bigger and wider than AT&T’s Galaxy S II and is one of just two of AT&T’s smartphones that offer support for the carrier’s budding 4G LTE network. Samsung’s Galaxy S II devices, the Focus S and even the Infuse 4G all look so similar to one another that the sleek and simplistic white design makes it look much more appetizing. It’s unclear when AT&T will launch the device, or if plans are even definite, but if it ever hits store shelves we’ll be among the first in line to check it out. More →

iPod touch (white) hands-on

iPod touch (white) hands-on

While Apple’s white iPod touch is the same iPod touch that millions and millions of people own and are familiar with — just in another color — it’s the first device from Apple to ship with iOS 5 pre-installed. The experience right out of the box with iOS 5 is now perfect, requiring no computer whatsoever to get going. And while this doesn’t yet apply to the general public since the only people with iOS 5 back-ups are developers, you can also effortlessly restore all of your backed-up information right to the device from iCloud — no syncing, no cables. Apple’s iPod touch is insanely popular for many reasons, but with a new lower price point starting at only $199, a white color option to freshen things up for the holiday season, and iOS 5, Apple has another hit on its hands. Be sure to check out our hands-on photos of the new white iPod touch in the gallery!

iPhone 4S pops up in Apple’s inventory again

iPhone 4S pops up in Apple’s inventory again

A new image suggesting Apple will soon launch an “iPhone 4S” was revealed on Thursday. 9to5Mac published a photo from Apple’s internal inventory that clearly shows the iPhone 4S moniker and suggests the 16GB iPhone 4S model number is “MD239.” Oddly, the new device is also codenamed “N94″ which was previously thought to have been reserved for the iPhone 5. 9to5Mac also said it also confirmed the phone in the system packs a dual-core A5 processor. On Wednesday we reported on a different internal inventory leak that suggested Apple will release two new 8GB iPhone models, one black and one white, in addition to a white iPod touch. While most reports have suggested Apple will reveal a thinner, lighter, aluminum unibody iPhone 5 alongside a cheaper iPhone 4S model, perhaps Apple will instead introduce an iPhone 4S and an 8GB iPhone 4. Tweaked iPhone 4, white iPod touch rumors reinforced by Apple inventory leak

Tweaked iPhone 4, white iPod touch rumors reinforced by Apple inventory leak

SKUs for a revised iPhone 4, believed to be the iPhone 4S, and new iPod touch SKUs have surfaced in Apple’s inventory system, 9to5Mac reported on Wednesday. The iPhone 4 SKUs reinforce rumors that Apple will introduce a watered-down version of the device, perhaps with just 8GB of memory, as the budget-friendly “iPhone 4S.” The listings also lend credence to early analyst reports that suggested Apple will not make any hardware changes to the iPod touch. Apple may instead only introduce a white version of the popular media player. According to 9to5Mac, Apple lists a new “N90A” codename in its system, which likely represents a small upgrade from the original iPhone 4 (the N90). The two SKUs for the phone may represent white and black 8GB models. The iPhone 5 has not yet popped up in the inventory, it seems. Additionally, 9to5Mac reported Apple is now listing three new iPod touch models with the codename “N81A.” The SKUs are expected to represent white versions of the current 8GB, 32GB and 64GB models. Apple will unveil its latest iPhone devices, and likely the white iPod touch, during its press conference on October 4th. BGR will be reporting all of the Apple news as it breaks.  More →

Apple to launch white iPod touch in October, no hardware changes in sight

Apple will announce a new version of its iPod touch during the first week of October when it takes the wraps off of the next-generation iPhone, according to MacRumors. Apple will not redesign or revamp the iPod touch in any major way. It will instead launch a white model of the popular multimedia player with slight tweaks to the ambient light sensor and with the addition of an oleophobic screen coating. Parts for the new iPod touch first surfaced in July, and the images suggested that the overall industrial design would remain untouched. Concord Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also said he expected Apple to hold off updating the hardware of the iPod touch this year due to a tight supply chain and continued demand for the iPhone and iPad. The white iPod touch is expected to hit the market in mid-October. More →

AT&T prepares to offer white iPhone 4S according to report

We have seen plenty of rumors that suggest Apple will launch the iPhone 4s as a budget-friendly option alongside the iPhone 5, and now the device has reportedly been listed in one of AT&T’s internal systems. According to a screenshot published by Engadget, AT&T is gearing up to offer a white iPhone 4s, possibly alongside the existing iPhone 4. The iPhone 5 isn’t mentioned at all in the carrier’s system. Apple is largely expected to announce the iPhone 5, and perhaps the iPhone 4s, during a press event in October. White Samsung Galaxy S II spotted

We’re expecting Samsung to begin launching its flagship Galaxy S II handset in the United States any week now, and on Thursday a render of a white version of the device popped up online. Until recently, Samsung only offered a black hued model of the phone in Europe, but a number of retailers are beginning to stock the new white model pictured above. The Galaxy S II packs a dual-core processor, Samsung’s stunning Super AMOLED Plus screen, Android 2.3 Gingerbread, the latest TouchWiz user interface and more. So far it has been Samsung’s fastest selling smartphone and 5 million units have already been shipped. Hopefully one of the U.S. carriers have this hue scheduled for launch because we’re definitely fawning over the milky color scheme. More →

Apple begins selling unlocked iPhone 4 handsets starting at $649

Apple begins selling unlocked iPhone 4 handsets starting at $649

Apple on Tuesday began selling unlocked iPhone 4 handsets in the U.S. a day earlier than expected. The smartphone is now available in 16GB for $649 or 32GB for $749, and both models come in black or white. Other manufacturers, most notably Nokia and Sony, have sold unlocked smartphones in the U.S. for quite some time. Neither company has seen much success with unlocked handsets thus far, though Apple’s approach is somewhat different. Apple’s primary sales channels in the U.S. are undoubtedly carriers, and the availability of unlocked smartphones simply addresses the needs of a small secondary market that is willing to pay for phones outright rather than spreading the cost of their devices over two years. As an added benefit, buyers of unlocked iPhones will be able to switch freely between GSM carriers, though some surgery may be involved with carriers that do not offer micro-SIM cards. With just a few months between the start of the summer and the expected launch of Apple’s fifth-generation iPhone, the availability of unlocked devices will allow also users to purchase iPhones now and then make a subsidized purchase in September, or whenever Apple finally does release the iPhone 5.
