This free mod makes Watch Dogs look more gorgeous than ever before

Watch Dogs is one of the best games of the year and a decent showcase title for the new generation consoles, but it still doesn’t stand up to the seemingly professionally doctored demo from E3 2012. What we saw two years ago was a game that looked more stunning than just about anything else on the market — the reality wasn’t quite as impressive. Now, just two months after the game’s release, PC modder Federico Rojas (aka TheWorst) has released the final version of his graphics mod for Watch Dogs on the PC, bringing the retail release up to speed with the pipe dream from the original demo. PS4 is best-selling console again in May as game sales swell 52%

As the previous console generation stretched into its eighth year, game sales had nearly slowed to a halt. It took the release of the PS4 and Xbox One to begin the recovery process, but May 2014 represents the first period in six months that software sales haven’t seen a decline. In fact, total video game sales were up 52% from May 2013, owing to both a 95% growth in hardware sales and the release of Watch Dogs and Mario Kart 8. More →

At this point, there aren’t many records left for the open-world adventure to break. More →

Here’s what happens when Watch Dogs’ hero has to switch to an iPhone

The recently released Watch Dogs video game is already an immensely popular title, so it’s not really a surprise that we’re already seeing some video parodies target the game. Machinima published a short but hilarious video in which Aiden Pearce, the main character in the game, switches to an iPhone and has to go buy it from an Apple retail store. More →

Comparing Watch Dogs’ graphics on the PS3, PS4 and Xbox One

The excitement surrounding the impending release of Watch Dogs was slightly tempered earlier in the week when Ubisoft announced that the PS4 version of the game would run at 900p and the Xbox One version would run at 792p. Early adopters have felt slighted as many new generation releases have failed to reach the pinnacle of 1080p resolution and 60fps, but the disparity between the consoles has been an even larger point of contention. Thankfully, CinemaBlend has cobbled together a few screenshots to compare the game’s visuals on the PS3, PS4 and Xbox One so we can begin to put the argument to rest once and for all. More →

Watch 16 minutes of leaked gameplay footage from Watch Dogs on the PS4

Watch Dogs is certainly the most anticipated multiplatform release of the month, but with less than a week until the game’s release, there’s still plenty we don’t know about it. Ubisoft revealed last week that the visuals will see a slight uptick on the PS4, but until we see the game in action for ourselves, it’s not worth worrying about. For those of you who were waiting for more footage to reach the Web before deciding whether or not to pick up Watch Dogs, you’re in luck — one PS4 owner managed to score a retail copy of the game earlier this week and streamed the game live on Twitch. He was quickly banned, but Dailymotion user LordofDarkness has subsequently posted a 16 minute clip of the stream that shows off a decent chunk of gameplay. More →

Watch Dogs will run at 900p resolution on PS4, 792p on Xbox One

Watch Dogs came out of nowhere at E3 2012, wowing audiences by showcasing a new open world adventure that would help define the hype for the next generation of consoles. After an unfortunate delay that pushed the game into 2014, the release of Watch Dogs is finally in sight. Unfortunately, the adventure will be slightly downgraded from full HD as Ubisoft announced on its blog on Tuesday that Watch Dogs will run at 900p on the PlayStation 4 and an even lower 792p on the Xbox One. Here’s how to see everything that Facebook knows about you

Watch Dogs is already one of the most hyped game releases of the spring, but Ubisoft’s clever marketing campaign might convince a whole new crowd to check the game out. Digital Shadow is a website being run by Ubisoft which allows Facebook users to see just how vulnerable their information could be to an outside source. By allowing the site to access your account, Digital Shadow will let you know within seconds which contacts you regularly interact with, which words you use most often in status updates and when you’re active on the social network. Video: Celebrate Watch Dogs’ May 27th release date with a new trailer

Watch Dogs made a huge splash at E3, promising to be one of the stand-out launch window titles for the new consoles, but to our dismay, the game was delayed until spring just weeks before it was scheduled to release. Months later, Ubisoft is finally ready to share a new release date: May 27th on the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC. The game is still going to make it to the Wii U as well, but Ubisoft hasn’t set a date quite yet. Along with the date comes a new trailer, delving deeper into the story of Aiden Pearce, the hacker who plans to use the city of Chicago as a weapon against his foes. He looks really angry. Check out the new footage of Watch Dogs below. More →
