At first glance, the idea of playing Bioshock Infinite on your web browser sounds like a pipe dream. But according to Ars Technica, it’s a pipe dream that Mozilla is working very hard to make real by porting Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 3 onto its open-source Firefox web browser. To achieve this daunting task, Ars says Mozilla “has been working on WebGL, in order to bring 3D graphics to the browser; Emscripten, a tool for compiling C++ applications into JavaScript; and asm.js, a high performance subset of JavaScript.” More →

Gameloft teases first Unreal Engine game, promises lots of blood

Gameloft Unreal Engine Game

French mobile video game developer and publisher Gameloft (GFT) on Thursday teased its first title that will be powered by Epic Games’s Unreal gaming engine. The company posted a teaser image on its Facebook page and asked users if they could spot a hint that is hidden in the artwork. Users who “Liked” the image were also able to vote on the next hint — a teaser trailer or a second image. Based on the image above, gamers can expect a lot of blood and violence from the company’s upcoming title. Unfortunately, Gameloft didn’t reveal whether the game will be available for iOS or Android, however rumors suggest the latter as more likely. More →
