We’ve got the goods on some upcoming AT&T smartphones from HTC and Garmin-ASUS

att-pure-pricing

While many of you spent last night watching grown men pummel one another into submission, we here at BGR put in some over time so we could get to the bottom of the pricing of some upcoming AT&T smartphones. And just as you would expect, we’ve come through. First off we have two HTC offerings, the Tilt2 (Touch Pro2) and Pure (Touch Diamond2). On contract and after applying $50 MIRs, we’ve heard the Tilt2 will be $299.99 while the Pure will go for $199.99. Off contract, you’re looking at $499.99 and $349.99 respectively. Second, we have the Garmin-ASUS nüvifone G60 which will finally ditch its North American vaporware status when it hits retail shelves with the 2-year price of $299.99 after a $100 MIR. Off contract, the G60 will command $549.99, a princely sum, indeed. Unfortunately we’ve not been able to confirm the AT&T Pure or nüvifone G60 release dates, but we do have a pretty accurate idea on the Tilt 2. Still, we’d expect to see all three of these devices before the end of October based upon the fact that this is when these prices are effective until.

UPDATE: We’ve just been sent a photo of the pricing for the AT&T Pure which shows it actually going for $149.99 with a two-year agreement.

Verizon Wireless finally launches the HTC Touch Diamond

Verizon Wireless announced today that the long overdue HTC Touch Diamond will be available online and through business channels starting tomorrow, April 10th. The Touch Diamond will feature a 2.76″ touchscreen, 3.2 megapixel camera, microSD expansion that supports up to 16GB, GPS, TouchFlo 3D and Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional. But you knew all that, considering the Touch Diamond has been around forever at this point. Whether this model has been crippled cannot be determined as details on the processor, available RAM and GPS status are not yet available from Verizon. The Touch Diamond will retail for a pricey $299.99 after a $70 mail-in rebate and a new 2-year customer agreement. Excited, Verizon customers, or just aggravated considering the Touch Diamond2 is almost a reality at this point?

VZW HTC Touch Diamond to launch April 10 for B2B/Web/Telesales customers

It’s certainly been a long time coming, but thanks to one our faithful Verizon ninjas we now know that Verizon is all set for the launch of its custom variant of the HTC Touch Diamond for all B2B, web and telesales customers come April 10. And while the full retail channel release date has yet to be set, we’re more than sure that a lot of the Big Red faithful won’t mind the extra wait seeing as the Touch Diamond will go for as little as $199.99 on a 2-year after mail-in rebates. For those who prefer not to be locked in to contracts or just want to add the Touch Diamond to their cellular collection, expect to fork over $469.99. Just a little refresher as to what makes the VZW Touch Diamond unique:

  • CPU: Qualcomm 7500A
  • Speed: 528 MHz
  • RAM size: 128MB
  • Flash size: 256MB
  • Display resolution: 480×640
  • 3.2 megapixel camera with autofocus

Hit up the jump for a product description, full specs/features and a list of retail box contents. Aww, heck, you might as well check in on our exclusive VZW Touch Diamond gallery to help tide you over until the 10th while you’re at it.

Verizon Wireless HTC Touch Diamond gets pictured

By on March 7, 2009 at 12:52 AM.

Verizon Wireless HTC Touch Diamond gets pictured

We got our hands on some pictures of a test model of the Verizon Wireless Touch Diamond rocking its sleek, black and shiny casing. Unlike Verizon’s Touch Pro, the Diamond has retained the characteristic faceted back. The Verizon version of the Touch Diamond has the following specs:

  • CPU: Qualcomm 7500A
  • Speed: 528 MHz
  • RAM size: 128MB
  • Flash size: 256MB
  • Display resolution: 480×640
  • 3.2 megapixel camera with autofocus

Looks like Big Red did indeed knock the memory down to 128/256MB but kept the processor speed at 528MHz and not 400MHz as was previously rumored. A microSD card slot is under the battery as a consolation for the drop in memory.  For those that must know, the Touch Diamond also has an accelerometer and comes with HTC’s tilting” game “Teeter”.  Aww, how nice! Hit the jump for a few more shots of the long awaited Verizon Wireless Touch Diamond.

Thanks, JM!

New ROM leaks for Sprint HTC Touch Diamond, includes Mobile Internet Explorer 6

New ROM leaks for Sprint HTC Touch Diamond, includes Mobile Internet Explorer 6

If you’re one of the many Sprint customers who uses an HTC Touch Diamond on a daily basis, this news is for you. A new ROM for the handset has leaked onto the internets, bringing a host of new features, fixes and upgrades with it. Chief amongst the changes is the inclusion of Mobile Internet Explorer 6, which is a major update to Microsoft’s ailing mobile browser. MIE 6 sports full flash support (!!), as well as a number of other minor changes. Additionally, the new Touch Diamond ROM also includes a new build of Opera 9.5, a new audio manager, a new camera app, new fullscreen media player, a new version of rsshub, as well as an improved YouTube client. All told, this seems to be a pretty significant update, though we should caution you that it has yet to receive the Sprint stamp of approval, and as such isn’t for the squeamish or faint of heart. If you think you can stomach it, however, hit this link for the full rundown, and be sure to let us know how it goes.

HTC future is looking pretty with One & Company Design, Inc.

HTC future is looking pretty with One & Company Design, Inc.

Remember when HTC devices used to look like they were all business and no fun? As we all know, they’ve recently taken a turn with more elegant, classy and sexy designs. Can anyone really say that the Touch Diamond or the Fuze are ugly phones? One & Company Design, Inc. is the San Francisco-based lifestyle design firm responsible for the latest crop of HTC beauties, and HTC is seemingly so please with the firm’s work that it has just announced an acquisition. One & Co. have won several awards for its designs, packaging and products so there is no doubt that this new venture with HTC is going to do well for the latter’s mobile handset line. After a few years working together and bringing the Touch Diamond to life, the two have decided to continue their relationship but will keep their names independent of each other. One & Co. will keep its client base and retain its name while working closely with HTC. If HTC keeps up the innovation and quality it has become known for, it will surely rise pretty quickly with functional and attractive handsets for the future.

Verizon’s Touch Diamond pushed back to January?

Verizon’s Touch Diamond pushed back to January?

The CDMA world is still waiting on a firm release date for Verizon’s iteration of the sleek HTC Touch Diamond and a new rumor might not exactly be the news we were hoping for. Initially it was thought that HTC’s sexy touchscreen handset would be headed to Big Red in October, then back in September we learned that internal training might not even take place until December. The latest rumor now puts the release date at some point in January of next year. Let’s hope we’re still looking at a December release which would make the Touch Diamond a holiday option, though its omission from the latest rebate sheet covering now through January 31st isn’t a promising sign. Well, at least we know the Touch Pro will be released in time for the holidays.

[Thanks, Brandon!]

Rogers to sell HTC Touch Diamond, contract free at $599.99

Rogers to sell HTC Touch Diamond, contract free at $599.99

What better way to keep yourself warm through a long Canadian winter than by being blasted by radiation from a shiny new handset. The latest issue of UR Magazine, free to all Rogers Wireless subscribers, is currently being mailed out all across Canada and is featuring the HTC Touch Diamond. While the device doesn’t appear anywhere on the Rogers website and no release date or contract pricing has been given, the unsubsidised price was published as being $599.99. If that’s not enough to give you a heart attack, it should be noted that Rogers is selling the HTC Touch at $449.99 contract free. Will Canadians buy it? If the initial $399 price tag of the Bold is any indication, yes, but only begrudgingly.

Future Shop offers Touch Diamond at $99 as consolation for error

Future Shop offers Touch Diamond at $99 as consolation for error

So many people got excited a few days ago after learning the HTC Touch Pro would be $239.99 with a contract from Future Shop. Well, it turns out there was just a slight error in their pricing and the Touch Pro is really $649.99 without a contract (actually, the Touch Pro was removed from the site completely at the time this post was written). It seems like it was yet to be subsidized at the awesome price listed in the ad and one might think it’s not going that route any time soon. Now, the HTC Touch Diamond and all the bells and whistles is available for $99 with a contract as a consolation prize. All you have to do is use the SKU number they’ve put up and sign your soul over for 3 years and that sweet new Touch Diamond is yours for just a bill (anyone else use “bill” in reference to a hundred dollars or is that just a SoCal thing?).

Thanks John!

HTC hits $1.2 billion in sales

HTC hits $1.2 billion in sales

HTC’s third quarter earnings are up 30% thanks to the crazy popularity of their Touch series devices. The only speedbump they hit is the 4.9% drop in profit due to shipment delays, but it doesn’t look like it’s hitting them too hard. The Touch-Diamond and Touch Pro has been receiving some pretty decent fanfare and interest in people who are looking to move to smartphones or switching from their current devices. The recent explosion in sales puts HTC right behind Nokia and RIM in terms of the largest makers of smartphones. Looks like HTC is on the up and up, especially with the manufacture of the new Treo Pro and the outrageously popular G1 on the horizon. T-Mobile didn’t anticipate the popularity of the device during its early pre-order stages and had to triple their inventory just to keep up. Job well done, HTC.

Leaked Verizon document hints at release dates for Blackberry Storm and HTC Touch Diamond

Engadget got a hold of an internal training schedule that hints at the release dates for both the BlackBerry Storm and the HTC Touch Diamond. According to the document, training for the Storm must be completed by November 2nd while training for the Diamond must be done by December 3rd. Knowing that training must be completed prior to launch date, we can safely assume we won’t see the Storm before November or the Diamond before December. Our “first week of November” release date is looking pretty good right now, but, you know how RIM does
