Verizon Wireless on Tuesday posted a teaser to the company’s website indicating that “something is coming” and allowing users to “sign up to get all the details about the latest Verizon’s products.” The update comes just a day before Apple is expected to announce its next-generation iPad. Earlier reports suggested that Apple’s next-generation iPad will feature embedded 4G LTE connectivity and Verizon operates the country’s largest 4G LTE network, reaching over 200 million people in the United States. Apple’s iPad 3/iPad HD is expected to feature an exterior that is slightly thicker than the iPad 2, and it should come equipped with a high-definition 2,048 x 1,536-pixel Retina Display, a new quad-core Apple A6 processor, a larger battery and an improved camera.
LG recently began teasing a new smartphone that could very well make its debut during the Mobile World Congress trade show later this month. The device, dubbed the Optimus Vu, will offer a 5-inch display with a 4:3 aspect ratio, and rumor has it the phone will also come equipped with a 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 8GB of storage, support for NFC, 1GB of RAM and an 8-megapixel camera. Unfortunately, the Optimus Vu will reportedly run Android 2.3 Gingerbread instead of the latest Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) operating system. So far we’re not seeing a whole lot to be excited about other than the massive screen, since most of the specs are similar to what we’ve already seen in the LG Optimus LTE phone. We expect LG will have more surprises up its sleeve during the show, however. More →
Samsung on Wednesday posted a new flyer to its Facebook page that hints at a new tablet the company plans to unveil at CTIA. The device in question will be the third addition to Samsung’s Galaxy Tab lineup, though it’s hard to call it third when the second Galaxy tablet — the Galaxy Tab 10.1 — still hasn’t seen the light of day. The new slate is expected to sport an 8.9-inch display, positioning it between the 7-inch Galaxy Tab and the 10-inch Galaxy Tab 10.1. The device may be named “Galaxy Tab 8.9,” though the moniker has not yet been confirmed. Samsung will be holding a press conference at CTIA on March 22nd where this new tablet and several other devices are expected to be unveiled. BGR will be covering the event live to report news as it breaks. More →
With the company’s February 3rd pre-order and February 10th release dates for the iPhone getting the lion’s share of media coverage, Verizon took to Twitter to make sure we don’t forget about another high-end smartphone due out in the near future, the HTC Thunderbolt. In 140 characters or less, Verizon quipped:
