T-Mobile G2x review

LG hasn’t launched a high-end Android smartphone in the U.S. for some time now — sure, it shipped the Optimus on multiple carriers, and Verizon launched the Ally a few years back, but neither was capable of holding a candle to other first-rate devices. That all changes with the G2x however, which is no doubt LG’s answer to Samsung’s Galaxy S family of smartphones in the United States. Its spec sheet is enough to leave other phones shaking in their boots. Dual-core processor, 4G radio, 1080p video — it has all the trappings of a top-of-the-line handset. I have been using, abusing, and confusing the G2x for the past few days and am ready to levy judgement on LG’s first serious smartphone contender. Want to know if the T-Mobile G2x has what it takes to be your next high-end smartphone? Hit the jump to find out.

T-Mobile G2x now available online for $199.99

As of 12:00 a.m. Friday morning, T-Mobile’s latest flagship Android smartphone is ripe for the picking. Built by LG and powered by the mobile processor du jour — the familiar 1GHz dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 — the T-Mobile G2x features a 4-inch touchscreen display, an 8-megapixel camera, Android 2.2 (Froyo) and compatibility with T-Mobile’s 4G HSPA+ network. We’ve gone hands-on with the device, twice, and we were plenty impressed with the speed T-Mobile’s new powerhouse affords. The T-Mobile G2x is available immediately online for $199.99 with a new two-year agreement, and it will land on store shelves next Wednesday. T-Mobile G2x landing April 15th for $199.99, in stores April 20th

T-Mobile has confirmed that its G2x smartphone will be available online starting on April 15th, and in stores on April 20th, for $199.99 with a new two-year contract. The LG-built T-Mobile G2x was announced during CTIA 2011 in March and packs Android 2.2 (Froyo), a dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 chipset, an 8-megapixel camera and support for T-Mobile’s 4G HSPA+ network. When we had a chance to check out the device first-hand, we said the G2x could easily end up being one of our favorite handsets on T-Mobile, so we’re definitely looking forward to seeing the phone launch.
