On Monday AT&T announced its spring smartphone sale that includes five current smartphones all priced below $100. AT&T is selling the Samsung Captivate, which sports a 4-inch Super AMOLED display, Android 2.2 (Froyo), and a 1GHz Samsung Hummingbird processor, for $99.99. Similarly, it’s selling the BlackBerry Torch 9800, the Samsung Focus, and the LG Quantum for $49.99 each. Lastly, the BlackBerry Curve 3G is on sale for just $29.99. You’ll need to sign on for a new two-year contract with AT&T to take advantage of the sale price, and AT&T says the offers are available both online and in company-owned retail stores nationwide. It’s unclear how long the sale will last. Hit the jump for the full release, which includes descriptions of each phone. More →
Lexar announced earlier today that the company will be bringing a whopping 128GB capacity SD card to market. This doubles the largest SDXC card that’s currently available. Fitting 128GB in the teeny teensy size of an SD card isn’t easy, and it won’t come cheap either — we’re talking about a $700 price point for the card. If you’re not in desperate need of 128GB of storage for your digital SLR, however, and can do with 64GB, you’ll be pleased as punch to know that the price is much more reasonable at $399. Both cards will be available starting this Spring. Press release after the jump. More →
A report filed today claims that Sony Ericsson’s PlayStation phone is set to launch in “spring of 2011″ — the article was published in the Japanese newspaper Asahi Shimbun. The publication goes on to state that the device will be “based on the PSPgo” and will “retain the PSP’s familiar gaming controls” — all of the leaked images and videos we’ve seen seem to confirm this as well. Sony has yet to comment on the previously aforementioned images and videos and declined to comment on Asahi Shimbun‘s report. “We do not comment on rumor or speculation,” noted a Sony spokeswoman. The PS phone, which will be powered by Android, is rumored to boast a 1GHz processor, 512MB of RAM, 1GB of ROM, microSD slot, and a special Sony Marketplace portal. Not to rain on Sony Ericsson’s parade, but a 1GHz processor in an Android handset might start to look pretty pedestrian after the Consumer Electronics Show next week and Mobile World Congress in February. So, so sad. According to Reuters and Digital Daily, Apple has confirmed to that the white version of the iPhone 4 is still a far ways off. The official quote?
We’re sorry to disappoint customers waiting for the white iPhone yet again, but we’ve decided to delay its release until this Spring.
We’re not sure what to make of it. We previously heard from a senior Apple source that Apple’s fixed the white iPhone manufacturing issues about a month ago. Does this mean they are timing it with the mythical Verizon iPhone? If not, and it does come out in the Spring, why release a white version at all at that point?
Apple will most likely have another model out by June/July anyway.
