Galaxy S III decoy phone pictured once again as announcement nears

It appears that Samsung’s purported efforts to mask the launch version of its upcoming next-generation Galaxy smartphone have once again paid off. A new image of the Galaxy S III has emerged on a Chinese forum, though the look (and name) of the device will likely be different when the new flagship phone is finally unveiled next week. Few new details can be gleaned from this new leak, though it appears that Samsung may have taken some liberties with the stock on-screen navigation buttons in Ice Cream Sandwich. Samsung’s next-generation Galaxy phone is expected to feature a quad-core 1.5GHz Exynos processor, a high-definition Super AMOLED display, 4G LTE, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and a ceramic case available in either blue or white. Samsung will unveil the Galaxy S III next week at a press conference in London. More →

Samsung says Galaxy S III isn’t launching in April; most likely May

Samsung’s highly anticipated follow up to the Galaxy S II was all but confirmed for an April launch. The South Korean manufacturer has taken to Twitter to shoot down rumors once more. The company said that previous speculation around the launch date are untrue and “once a specific launch date [is available] we will notify you via Twitter first.” Samsung also reached out to The Verge and informed the website that the device will be revealed in the first half of 2012. “The successor to the GALAXY S II smartphone will be unveiled in the first half of the year, closer to commercial availability of the product,” the company said. “We cannot confirm the detailed information at the moment.” BGR reported exclusive details about the Samsung Galaxy III a few weeks ago, including the fact that it will feature a beautiful 4.8-inch 1080p display, ceramic case, and much more. Samsung Galaxy S III launch reportedly confirmed for April

The sequel to Samsung’s wildly popular Galaxy S II will launch in April. ZDNet Korea claims to have confirmed the time frame with Cheil Worldwide, Samsung’s marketing and advertising agency. The firm is reportedly planning a huge campaign in the United Kingdom, one of the Galaxy S III’s initial launch markets, and the focus of the ad blitz will be this year’s Summer Olympics, which will take place in London. An earlier report from an industry insider also pegged April as the launch month for Samsung’s highly anticipated next flagship smartphone. BGR exclusively published full specs for the Galaxy S III earlier this week, and highlights include a 4.8-inch 1080p high-definition display, a 1.5GHz quad-core Samsung Exynos processor, an 8-megapixel rear camera, a 2-megapixel front-facing camera, a ceramic case, embedded 4G LTE and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
