Motorola DROID HD (RAZR/Spyder) specs revealed; said to be ‘faster than the iPhone 4S’

We just confirmed some of the specifications for the upcoming Motorola DROID device (DROID HD / DROID RAZR / Spyder) that Verizon Wireless and Motorola are rumored to be announcing next week, and they are monster. Here is what we have:

  • Thinner and “faster than the iPhone 4S” according to our source
  • 1GB of RAM — double the iPhone 4 and 4S
  • 1.2GHz dual-core processor
  • 4G LTE (thinnest LTE phone to date)
  • 4.3-inch display

The teaser video for this phone appears to be a direct shot at the iPhone — faster, thinner, smarter, stronger — and with the specifications above and rumored physical attributes like a case molded from Kevlar, a Gorilla Glass display and a splash-resistant coating, it looks like we’re in for quite an event next Tuesday.

AT&T's HTC Holiday spotted on Craigslist with 1.2GHz dual-core processor

AT&T's HTC Holiday spotted on Craigslist with 1.2GHz dual-core processor

The crew over at XDA-Developers recently spotted the HTC Holiday (with a cracked screen) for sale on Craigslist. We first saw renders of the Holiday in May and the leaked images supposedly confirm a number of the phone’s specs. Bound for AT&T, the Holiday appears to be equipped with a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, a 4.5-inch 960 x 540-pixel display, 1GB of RAM, a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera, an 8-megapixel camera with dual-LED flash and Android 2.3.4 (Gingerbread). It is unclear when AT&T plans to launch the Holiday but its spec sheet certainly has enough muscle to compete with Samsung’s inbound U.S. Galaxy S II handset, which will be announced during a press event on August 29th. Unfortunately, the XDA-Developers thread outing the device has already been pulled but you can hit the read link for another picture of the Holiday. More →

Motorola PHOTON 4G review

The Motorola PHOTON 4G is the company’s first 4G handset on Sprint, and even more, it is the first high-end Motorola device set to launch on Sprint’s network in a very long time. It’s packed to the brim on paper — specifically, with features such as a 1GHz dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2  processor, 1GB of RAM, a 4.3-inch qHD display, an 8-megapixel camera with dual-LED flash and a VGA front-facing camera, 16GB of built-in storage, plus global-roaming and 4G WiMAX connectivity. In short, it’s probably the most feature-packed phone to ever launch from Sprint. I have been using the Motorola PHOTON 4G for a few days now and the question I really wanted to answer was: is this Sprint’s best smartphone? Hit the break to find out.

Motorola DROID 3 review

Motorola DROID 3 review

Motorola has been on a roll. With the introduction of the original DROID handset, a phone that we exclusively showed the world, Motorola has been set on a path of success with Android. The first Motorola DROID was innovative and brought forth a brand new version of Android, Android 2.0. The device featured a high resolution display with full QWERTY slide-out keyboard, and ran on Verizon Wireless’ solid voice and data network. Motorola and Verizon followed it up with an evolutionary upgrade in the DROID 2, but the Motorola DROID 3 is supposed to be the next big step in both hardware and software. I have been using a Motorola DROID 3 for over a week now, and my full review is after the break.

Motorola DROID 3 hands-on

By on July 14, 2011 at 12:28 PM.

Motorola DROID 3 hands-on

Verizon Wireless just shot us over its latest flagship DROID handset, the Motorola DROID 3, and it’s pretty intense. Specs-wise, it features a whopping 4-inch qHD display, a 1GHz dual-core processor, a fully redesigned slide-out QWERTY keyboard, an 8-megapixel camera with 1080p HD video capture, global roaming capabilities, and it runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread. The device is thicker and heavier than we’d imagined, but that’s not to say it’s too chunky. It’s actually thinner than the DROID 2 and even the original DROID, though the bigger display certainly makes the overall footprint feel very large. Motorola’s qHD displays are PenTile displays, and unfortunately they all look pretty pixelated. Despite all those pixels, the DROID 3’s display is no exception, though it most likely won’t matter for the majority of consumers. The phone feels nice and solid, and the keyboard is incredibly spacious. In fact, the DROID 3 easily sports the best QWERTY of any of Verizon’s Android devices. Check out photos of the Motorola DROID 3 in our gallery below, and be on the look out for our full review soon!

Sprint just announced that the Motorola Photon 4G, which was originally revealed during a press event on June 9th, will be available starting July 31st for $199.99 on contract. The Photon 4G seemed very fast during our initial hands on. It packs a 1GHz dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor, support for Sprint’s WiMAX network, a 4.3-inch qHD display, 16GB of storage, an 8-megapixel camera and an Android 2.3 (Gingerbread). It also supports GSM networks for global roaming. Motorola DROID 3 spotted on Verizon’s website

We’ve already seen plenty of leaks and even a how-to video on Verizon’s upcoming Motorola DROID 3, but now full 360-degree images of the phone have been leaked. The images confirm what we’ve seen before: the DROID 3 will offer a similar design to the two DROID phones that came before it, including a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard. It will, however, get a hardware spec boost. We’ve heard the device will pack a 4-inch 960 x 540 qHD display, a dual-core processor, support for HDMI-out, and an 8-megapixel camera capable of recording HD video. The latest rumors suggest that the phone could be announced as soon as July 7th, but unfortunately it doesn’t look like support for Verizon’s 4G LTE network will be included. More →

HTC Sensation 4G review

HTC Sensation 4G review

The HTC Sensation 4G for T-Mobile is arguably one of the carrier’s best smartphones ever. It’s packed to the brim with features and impressive specs, it’s lightning quick, incredibly well-built, and it runs HTC’s latest and greatest Sense user interface. Can it compete with other Android devices like the T-Mobile G2x, though? How does a dual-core Snapdragon CPU compare to a dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 in real world usage? Is this the best smartphone to ever hit T-Mobile? Answers to those questions and more can be found after the break!

Motorola DROID 3 spotted again

Motorola DROID 3 spotted again

We’ve seen plenty of leaked shots of the DROID 3 (also known as the Milestone 3 in Europe), but now you can get a glimpse of the clearest one yet. The phone first surfaced in March, again in April, and then the specs were leaked in May. The bad news is that it’s becoming more and more clear that the phone will be nearly identical in looks to the DROID 2. The good news is there’s decent spec boost. The DROID 3 should sport a 4-inch display with 960 x 540 qHD resolution, a dual-core processor, HDMI-out, and an 8-megapixel camera that’s presumably capable of recording HD video. Early rumors suggested a June launch on Verizon Wireless, so hopefully we’ll hear more in the coming weeks. More →

Motorola Photon 4G gets official on Sprint, available this summer

The Motorola Photon 4G was rumored to be the first flagship Motorola handset to join Sprint in quite some time, and just moments ago at Sprint and Motorola’s press event in New York City, the Android handset got official. The Motorola Photon 4G features a 4.3-inch qHD display, 1GHz dual-core Tegra 2 processor, 16GB of storage, front-facing VGA camera, rear-facing 8-megapixel camera with full 1080p HD video capture support, 4G WiMAX, and more. It definitely looks like the Photon 4G and the EVO 3D will be the Android handsets to beat this summer. The full press release is after the break! More →

HTC Sensation 4G for T-Mobile hands-on (again)

HTC Sensation 4G for T-Mobile hands-on (again)

We just tore into T-Mobile’s HTC Sensation 4G, and while we saw the device before its official debut a few months back, well, there’s just nothing like your own retail unit, is there? Everything about this handset exudes quality — the build is fantastic, it’s proportionally weighted, the materials all look like high-end finishes with brushed metal and glass, and the feel in your hand is perfect thanks to the phone’s tapered edges and soft-touch plastic on the back. There is one downside to the case on the HTC Sensation 4G, though: the power button isn’t optimally placed and it’s quite difficult to press, so it makes locking and unlocking the phone a bit difficult. The qHD display really shows off vivid and bright colors and text is crystal clear. It’s incredibly reflective, but that’s probably the only negative thing we could say about. The phone zipped through any task we threw at it in the couple hours we have been playing with it, and this is already one of our favorite Android handsets to date. Hit the break for the full photo gallery and stay tuned for the official review.

Verizon’s Motorola DROID 3 specs leak

Verizon’s Motorola DROID 3 specs leak

We’ve already seen a few images of Motorola’s unannounced DROID 3 smartphone — expected to hit Verizon Wireless in the near future — but now a few new specs have surfaced, too. According to TechnoBuffalo, the DROID 3 could launch in June and it will offer a 4-inch display with 960 x 540 qHD resolution, a dual-core processor, HDMI-out, and an 8-megapixel camera that’s presumably capable of recording HD video. Unfortunately, it doesn’t appear that Verizon will outfit the DROID 3 with support for its 4G LTE network, so it’s going to be more of an incremental update to a family that’s already starting to feel a bit stale.
