Every month, Sony announces a new slate of free games for PlayStation Plus subscribers. The announcement typically comes a few days before they’re made available on the PlayStation Store, but list for November leaked at least a few hours ahead of schedule when Sony accidentally published a video featuring all six games. Sony is sure to have an official post up soon, but until then, here is the Instant Game Collection for November. More →

Sony announced the lineup for its October Instant Game Collection on Wednesday, and as usual, PlayStation fans aren’t going to be disappointed. This month features the standard two games per platform, but the PlayStation team has something extra in store for PS4 owners: DriveClub PlayStation Plus Edition. What was originally meant to be a launch title for the console was delayed for almost an entire year, but anyone with a PS Plus subscription will be able to download it starting next Tuesday. More →

Customize your PS4 and PS Vita with themes in the next major updates

The success of the PlayStation 4 in the international market has been well-documented, but that doesn’t mean Sony’s latest home console is without its own unique flaws. In our review last fall, we noted that the app stream on the dashboard was going to become problematic as the PS4’s library began to expand, yet Sony still hasn’t found a way to address the issue in any of its recent updates. In the meantime, the company plans to distract us with dashboard themes. More →

CounterSpy review: Your mission, should you choose to accept it

I’ve never been particularly good at stealth games. Either I don’t have the patience or I’m just not savvy enough to pick up on important cues from the bad guys, but my experiences have been repeatedly soured by my lack of skill. Fortunately, CounterSpy is a very different kind of stealth game, but all of the best aspects from the genre have been carried over. It’s a thoughtful, fast-paced game with impeccable style and enough collectables to keep you coming back for more even after you’ve saved the world once or twice. More →

Here’s why PS4 and PS3 fans should be very excited right now

Summer can be a rough time of year for gamers. The slow release schedule coupled with the beginning of a new console generation has made this summer especially difficult, but things are finally going to start picking back up in August, as evidenced by a rather strong lineup of games for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and PS Vita. The mysterious case of the vanishing PS Vitas

If you’ve waited until now to try to get your hands on Sony’s latest portable console, you might be out of luck. Polygon has noted that even though the PS Vita was recently re-released with a slimmer frame and improved battery life, the Borderlands 2 bundle is currently out of stock at every major online retailer, including Target, Walmart, Best Buy and GameStop. The listing on Target even states that the bundle is “not sold in stores.” Amazon is no longer selling the bundle directly either — you’d have to go through a reseller to buy one from the online marketplace.

For the first time in years, Sony is selling more game consoles than anyone else

It looks like 2014 is primed to be the year of the PlayStation. The Wall Street Journal reports that, for the first time in years, Sony has taken the lead with combined home console and portable hardware sales worldwide. After conceding to Nintendo last year by just 200,000 units, the popularity of the PlayStation 4 and continued adoption of the PS Vita have given Sony a comfortable lead at 18.7 million combined sales, 2.4 million over Nintendo and 7.2 million over Microsoft. Live coverage: Sony’s huge PlayStation press conference from E3 2014

It might not have been what we expected, but Sony is coming into E3 2014 as the console maker to beat. With more exclusives, better specs and a less imposing price tag, the PS4 won the first battle of the new generation. Now, Sony might have taken an early lead, but with all the recent changes over at the Xbox camp, the most popular video game console of the generation needs to keep getting better to stay on top. We’ll be live from Sony’s E3 press conference today at 9:00PM!

Closing out the day, Sony is going to do everything in its power to retain the huge lead its been given early in this new console generation. With a $100 price advantage over the Xbox One, the PlayStation 4 quickly established itself as the console to own in late 2013, which carried over into the new year supported by the PS4’s slightly more powerful hardware and an arguably better lineup of exclusives. Now that Microsoft has ditched Kinect to reach the $399 price tag, added its own offering of free monthly titles and fixed many of the software issues that plagued the Xbox One at launch, there’s only one weapon Sony has left in its arsenal: a lineup of great games. With The Order: 1886 delayed to 2014, what’s going to be the PS4 exclusive to watch for this fall? We should find out later today. More →

Review: Soul Sacrifice Delta for PS Vita

Soul Sacrifice Delta is not a sequel to the PS Vita exclusive title that preceded it, but more like a director’s cut. All of the original content is intact with a few substantial additions which make this a tempting offer for fans of the original. If you never got around to playing the first release of Soul Sacrifice, you should think twice before discounting this as another Monster Hunter rip-off. More →
