Sprint’s Motorola Photon 4G landing July 31st for $199.99

Sprint just announced that the Motorola Photon 4G, which was originally revealed during a press event on June 9th, will be available starting July 31st for $199.99 on contract. The Photon 4G seemed very fast during our initial hands on. It packs a 1GHz dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor, support for Sprint’s WiMAX network, a 4.3-inch qHD display, 16GB of storage, an 8-megapixel camera and an Android 2.3 (Gingerbread). It also supports GSM networks for global roaming. Sprint Premier customers will have a chance to purchase the phone a few days early on July 28th, and the carrier is also offering a range of accessories including an HD dock, a wireless keyboard and more. Motorola Photon 4G video hands-on

Photos not cutting it? Don’t worry, because your pals at BGR just spent some up close and personal time with the new Motorola Photon 4G. Sprint and Motorola teamed up to take the wraps off this sleek new smartphone earlier today, and we have to say, we’re impressed. With a 4.3-inch qHD display, 1GHz dual-core Tegra 2 processor, 16GB of storage, an 8-megapixel camera, a secondary front-facing camera, support for Motorola’s webtop solution and, of course, a 4G WiMAX radio, this really might be the smartphone to beat this summer. Check out the first video hands-on of Sprint and Motorola’s first 4G device after the break! Motorola Photon 4G hands-on!

Motorola Photon 4G hands-on!

While it just was made official moments ago by Sprint CEO Dan Hesse and Motorola CEO Sanjay Jha, we were able to snag some hands-on time with the 4G beast earlier this morning. For starters, the Motorola Photon 4G features a 4.3-inch qHD display, 1GHz dual-core Tegra 2 processor, 16GB of storage, an 8-megapixel camera, front-facing camera, and support for Motorola’s webtop solution, which will allow the phone to power a full Firefox browser on your HDTV. As far the feel, the device is extremely solid and we’re loving the futuristic styling of the design, complete with angled corners. Also, the glossy bezel contrasts beautifully with the rubberized soft-touch case back. The phone runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread, and felt incredibly snappy during the time we spent with it. The Motorola Photon 4G is scheduled to launch this summer, though pricing information has not yet been announced. Don’t let that get you down, though — we have a gallery full of hands-on photos below!

UPDATE: Check out our video hands-on with the Motorola Photon 4G, too!

Motorola Photon 4G gets official on Sprint, available this summer

The Motorola Photon 4G was rumored to be the first flagship Motorola handset to join Sprint in quite some time, and just moments ago at Sprint and Motorola’s press event in New York City, the Android handset got official. The Motorola Photon 4G features a 4.3-inch qHD display, 1GHz dual-core Tegra 2 processor, 16GB of storage, front-facing VGA camera, rear-facing 8-megapixel camera with full 1080p HD video capture support, 4G WiMAX, and more. It definitely looks like the Photon 4G and the EVO 3D will be the Android handsets to beat this summer. The full press release is after the break! More →

HTC's 1H 2010 portfolio leaked, pictured and spec'd

If you live and die by HTC, you might be very excited to know that the company’s portfolio for the first half of 2010 has been leaked online. HTC’s portfolio was presented in Vienna back in October in a global meeting, and now it’s available for us to see. The phones are broken down by category: Design, Performance, Social and Productivity (can’t a phone be two or more?). Lined up are a number of Windows Mobile 6.5 devices and Android devices, so we hope you’re sitting down for this one. Hit the break to see how the phones are broken down by category and to see some images of the devices themselves!
