Motorola DROID X2 press images leaked

We’ve already seen leaked hands-on photos of Verizon’s upcoming DROID X2 smartphone, but now the official press images have been spilled, too. There doesn’t appear to be many aesthetic differences from the original DROID X, aside from the DROID^2 logo painted on the back. There are a few spec boosts, though, including a rumored 1.2GHz dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor and a higher resolution qHD display. The DROID X2 is expected to launch running Android 2.2 although we hope there are plans for an early Android 2.3 software update. According to earlier rumors, the DROID X2 will cost $199.99 with a new two year contract, but Verizon Wireless has yet to leak a launch date. More →

T-Mobile G2x review

T-Mobile G2x review

LG hasn’t launched a high-end Android smartphone in the U.S. for some time now — sure, it shipped the Optimus on multiple carriers, and Verizon launched the Ally a few years back, but neither was capable of holding a candle to other first-rate devices. That all changes with the G2x however, which is no doubt LG’s answer to Samsung’s Galaxy S family of smartphones in the United States. Its spec sheet is enough to leave other phones shaking in their boots. Dual-core processor, 4G radio, 1080p video — it has all the trappings of a top-of-the-line handset. I have been using, abusing, and confusing the G2x for the past few days and am ready to levy judgement on LG’s first serious smartphone contender. Want to know if the T-Mobile G2x has what it takes to be your next high-end smartphone? Hit the jump to find out.

AT&T's Motorola ATRIX 4G just $49.99 from Amazon

AT&T's Motorola ATRIX 4G just $49.99 from Amazon

No, this isn’t April Fools. AmazonWireless is selling AT&T’s Motorola ATRIX 4G for $49.99 with a new two-year AT&T contract. That’s $150 less than AT&T’s $199.99 price tag. Sure, there’s been some hoopla about AT&T’s 4G HSPA+ performance on the ATRIX, but it still packs plenty of punch with a killer dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor clocked at 1GHz, 1GB of RAM, Android 2.2 (Froyo), and a sharper-than-diamonds 960 x 540-pixel display. AmazonWireless sweetens the deal even further by knocking $100 off of the Motorola Laptop Dock accessory, which typically retails for $399.99 when purchased separately. We called the ATRIX 4G one of the best Android smartphones to ever be available from AT&T when we reviewed it in February, so you know you’re getting some top-notch gear. The $49.99 deal is likely a limited-time offer, so don’t delay if you’re in the market for a new smartphone from AT&T. More →

T-Mobile G2x landing April 15th for $199.99, in stores April 20th

T-Mobile has confirmed that its G2x smartphone will be available online starting on April 15th, and in stores on April 20th, for $199.99 with a new two-year contract. The LG-built T-Mobile G2x was announced during CTIA 2011 in March and packs Android 2.2 (Froyo), a dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 chipset, an 8-megapixel camera and support for T-Mobile’s 4G HSPA+ network. When we had a chance to check out the device first-hand, we said the G2x could easily end up being one of our favorite handsets on T-Mobile, so we’re definitely looking forward to seeing the phone launch. T-Mobile’s LG G-Slate Honeycomb tablet hands-on!

T-Mobile’s LG G-Slate Honeycomb tablet hands-on!

We just stopped by T-Mobile’s booth here in Orlando during CTIA to get up close and personal with the G-Slate, T-Mobile’s Android 3.0 Honeycomb tablet that’s capable of running on its 4G HSPA+ network. Right off the bat, one of our biggest issues was that the G-Slate was covered with fingerprints, a sign that it definitely lacks an oleophobic coating on the display. The tablet felt great in the hand though, and we really liked the metal on the back, which gives it a premium look and feel. Hit the jump for our thoughts, and check out our gallery of images that’ll give you a closer look at this sleek tablet.
