AT&T to sell Nokia Lumia 920 for $449.99 without contract

AT&T’s (T) Windows Phone 8-powered Nokia (NOK) Lumia 920 is very affordable at $99.99 as long as you’re willing to bite the bullet with a two-year contract. But as it turns out, AT&T will also be selling the Lumia 920 without any commitments for $449.99 with preorders ready to go. BGR reviewed the Lumia 920 and concluded that it is a great phone, albeit a bit too heavy, but Windows Phone 8 still lacks a strong catalog of apps and compelling differentiation. AT&T’s website didn’t provide any details on whether or not the Lumia 920 would include a wireless charging plate if purchased at full price, or when the off-contract phone would ship.

A look at Nokia's Lumia 920 and Motorola's DROID RAZR HD

Apple’s (AAPL) iPhone 5 surely takes top billing this week, but there are also a few other handsets slated to launch ahead of the holidays that are worth looking at. Last week both Motorola and Nokia (NOK) held events to announce new products, and we got a chance to check them all out. Motorola introduced three devices — the Motorola DROID RAZR M, DROID RAZR HD and DROID RAZR MAXX HD and Nokia unveiled the Lumia 920 and Lumia 820. These are some of the most interesting products either vendor has announced in a long time, and they all pack in the latest high-end specs you would want in a smartphone with a differentiated experience. Take a look at our coverage of all those devices in this week’s show! More →
