Nokia Lumia 900 Seton Hall University

Nokia on Tuesday announced a new partnership with Seton Hall University that will see all incoming freshman receive a Lumia 900 smartphone. The handset will be equipped with SHUmobile, an app available across multiple platforms that provides access to campus news feeds, directories and maps. The Lumia 900s offered by the school will also have access to a custom Freshmen Experience section that allows users to communicate with their freshmen peers, academic advisers, roommates and to view housing information. The university will use Nokia Data Gather to conduct polls and gather other information from the students. The entire class of 2016 will receive a Nokia Lumia 900 with free service from AT&T for the fall semester, but they must foot the bill or rely on Wi-Fi networks after the semester ends. Nokia Lumia 900 teardown reveals mediocre hardware

Nokia and Microsoft are betting big on the Lumia 900, hoping the device will help make a name for Windows Phone in the United States. The handset will be exclusively offered by AT&T for a mere $99.99 with a new two-year agreement on April 8th. TechRepublic on Tuesday cracked open the device and examined its internal components. The conclusion: mediocre hardware is the reasons for its low price. With almost every other competing smartphone offering dual-core or quad-core processors, Nokia instead chose a single-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S2 chipset clocked at 1.4 GHz. The Lumia has a smaller battery, lower resolution display and less RAM than most of its competitors as well. The handset is also thicker and heavier than most, although it has a good build quality according to the site. Despite these shortcomings, Nokia’s Lumia 900 is a terrific smartphone that gives Windows Phone its best shot yet to succeed. More →

AT&T’s Nokia Lumia 900 launch delayed, now set to debut on April 22nd for $99.99

BGR exclusively reported this past January that the Nokia Lumia 900 will retail for a mind-blowing $99.99 with two-year agreement when it launches on AT&T. We also reported that the sleek smartphone was slated for a March 18th release, but we noted that the Lumia 900 hadn’t yet received technical acceptance so the launch date could slide. We have now been told by a trusted source that the launch has indeed been delayed, and AT&T is now aiming to make the Lumia 900 available online and in stores on April 22nd. The handset’s amazing price point remains unchanged, however, so Windows Phone fans can look forward to seeing Nokia’s flagship smartphone launch next month for less than $100.

4G LTE Micro-SIMs arrive at AT&T locations; LTE iPad on the horizon?

AT&T has began to supply its retailers with micro-SIM cards for LTE-compatible devices, according to phoneArena.com. The carrier has also requested that existing micro-SIM stock be scrapped in favor of the new modules. The site suggests that the micro-SIMs will be used for the upcoming Nokia Lumia 900 — which BGR exclusively reported will launch on March 18th for $99 — and The Verge’s Chris Ziegler also notes that the Pantech Burst utilizes micro-SIM cards. With the launch of Apple’s Pad 3 just around the corner, however, these new micro-SIM cards may find their way into LTE-enabled iPads before they make it to Nokia’s upcoming flagship smartphone. Read on for a purported screenshot from AT&T’s system. Nokia Lumia 900 revealed in leaked promo [video]

Nokia’s upcoming flagship Windows Phone, the Lumia 900, has been revealed in a leaked promotional video aimed at developers. First discovered by Netherlands-based All About Phones, the video was accidentally posted to Nokia’s public YouTube channel before being marked private. The video offers very little in the way of details, though it does show an image of the sleek Windows Phone next to the text, “When you bring together Nokia’s stunning new hardware and a dynamic Microsoft OS you get amazing every day.” Nokia’s Lumia 900, code-named Ace, is expected to feature a 4.3-inch ClearBlack AMOLED display, a 1.4GHz processor and an 8-megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics. Nokia France boss Paul Amsellem on Wednesday alluded to the device while speaking with a French newspaper, but Nokia responded to reports by saying it had nothing to announce at this time. Nokia’s full promotional video follows below.
