Nokia holding five hour sale tomorrow, online and in Flagship Stores

Apparently Nokia’s online sale last week was pretty effective because the Finnish manufacturer has decided to give it another go. This time around the sale is good at both Nokia Flagship Stores — in New York and Chicago — and online as well for those who don’t live near a shop. Here’s how this one shapes up:

  • 5800            $280.00
  • E63              $195.00
  • E66              $275.00
  • E71              $285.00
  • E75              $380.00
  • N79              $260.00
  • N85              $330.00
  • N95 8G         $355.00
  • N96              $440.00

Not bad at all, Nokia. As you can see, some of the prices are even better than last week’s deal and all fall into range off the 30-50 percent off. So when can you get your Symbian fix on the cheap? Thursday, June 25th in New York City from 11am-4pm local time (Eastern) and in Chicago from 10am-3pm local time (Central). The sale will also be going down in the same time slot on nokiausa.com. Anyone eyeing some new kit?

2009 Rogers / Fido roadmap leaked, leads to smartphone heaven

Just because it’s Christmas doesn’t mean that the mobile phone industry is safe from leaks. HoFo user clearskies08 has posted pictures which are purported to be from an internal Rogers and Fido flagship presentation. They reveal all of the flagship smartphones that the two carriers plan to release in 2009. Virtually every single phone in the line-up has been written about before in one way or another so we’ll spare you their specs, but rest assured, if even one quarter of the phones in the presentation end up hitting store shelves, 2009 is looking to be a hell of a year for Rogers and its dog. Hit the jump for a complete list of handsets along with images from the presentation.

Nokia N96 Bruce Lee Edition available from China

Nokia N96 Bruce Lee Edition available from China

For those who have managed to remain completely unaffected by the current state of the global economy – and who really dig Kung Fu – this may be the best thing to happen to you since your money. Nokia China has just made a special edition N96 available and it packs all kinds of punch (sorry). Sort of. Basically you’re looking at an N96 with the image and signature of Bruce Lee on the back cover, a bluetooth headset and a special wrist strap and pint-sized nunchaku. The price of admission – ¥8,788, which works out to roughly $1,286. Wow. That might seem like a pretty steep price to pay, but you’ll surely be the envy of, umm… Of someone, we think. We can’t imagine who, but someone.

Nokia N96 lands at Best Buy

Nokia N96 lands at Best Buy

Score one more for team Nokia – sort of. Remember that $800 CompUSA price tag on the Bold that everyone laughed at? Well, it looks like the condition might be contagious. The good news for all you Nokia fans out there is that your favorite Finnish phone manufacturer managed to land another handset at a major US retailer. The bad news… It’s $800. It turns out the rumors were indeed true and Best Buy Mobile will indeed be carrying the new flagship Nseries. Even better is the fact that not only will there actually be a working demo out in some stores, but it appears as though the N96 setups are wide out in the open as opposed to tucked in a corner behind a sign somewhere as was the case with the N95 8GB in many locations. If you happen to have $800 burning a hole in your pocket and an uncontrollable craving for S60 FP2, 16 GB of internal memory, a 5 megapixel Zeiss camera, and Nokia’s now-famous sexy dual slide form factor – Best Buy has the cure for what ails you. Hit the jump for two pics of the floor demo.

[Thanks, Omie!]

Nokia N96 May be Landing October 1st

Nokia N96 May be Landing October 1st

It seems as though it has taken forever but word on the street is that the successor to the Nokia flagship Nseries throne is set to drop on October 1. The rumor surrounds a UK release mind you, but Nokia has been pretty good lately in terms of making its handsets available in various regions at around the same time. We’re sure you know all there is to know about the N96 but just in case you need a refresher, it’s a beast. 16 GB of internal memory, microSDHC support for another 16 GB, sexy dual-slide form factor with a built-in kickstand for media consumption, signature 5 megapixel Zeiss camera with dual LED flash and so on. There is no word yet on an official US price point but we know early pricing in other regions translated to a tag up around $1,200. Clearly the actual US pricing will be significantly lower; at least it will be if Nokia intends to sell any on this side of the pond. We can’t imagine a better successor to the throne currently occupied by the N95 8GB. Well, except for the Samsung Innov8 maybe.

Nokia N96 to Start Shipping July 31st

Nokia N96 to Start Shipping July 31st

It looks like the changing of the guard may happen sooner than some would have thought. According to the play.com shop, Nokia’s N96 will begin shipping on July 31st for a whopping £600 or $1,185 as of today’s exchange rate. It will be interesting to see what price point it gets in the US, but our friends across the pond may end up saving money by flying over here to snag one. Ok, maybe not. The N96 as you know, is the peppy heir to the flagship Nseries throne and will be the second Feature Pack 2 device issued by Nokia. It’s a multimedia powerhouse with stunning specs, a solid design and a shiny new chipset that should help tremendously with power consumption. We’re very excited to check this sucker out. The big question of course: Does the N96 build nicely upon the precedent set by the N95 8GB or just basically repackage it? With details like up to 32 GB of memory, Feature Pack 2 and plenty more, we’re thinking the former might just be the case.
