Microsoft’s multi-billion dollar acquisition of Nokia’s devices and services business has gotten almost all of the regulatory approvals it needs, but Nokia has no intention of letting the various unreleased Lumia phones in its product pipeline die on the vine. Among them is the Lumia 929, photos of which have just been leaked by online smartphone accessory retailer Wireless Ground. As noted by WMPoweruser, the retailer recently posted a page for an “Armor Stand” case built for Nokia’s still unannounced Lumia 929. Official marketing renders of the 929 can be seen inside the case in each image, suggesting that the device could be announced at CES early next month. The Lumia 929 has leaked in the past and is expected to be a minor upgrade compared to Nokia’s other recent Windows Phones. It will be available from Verizon Wireless once it finally debuts.
We saw our first sign of the Lumia 929 last week, one of Nokia’s upcoming devices that was not featured at Nokia World 2013. WPCentral has since gotten its hands on a what might be a full list of specs for Nokia’s followup to the Lumia 928. According to WPCentral, the Lumia 929 will feature a 2.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, 5-inch AMOLED display at 1080p resolution, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, 20-megapixel PureView rear camera and a forward-facing camera. The phone should be released by early next year and will be available in glossy white and matte black. No pricing information was included in the report. Nokia has announced six new devices since it jointly announced a deal to sell its handset and services divisions to Microsoft, and now a leaked video introduces us to the seventh. The upcoming Lumia 929 will be Verizon Wireless’ followup to the Lumia 928 you may or may not remember — BGR reviewed the Lumia 928 back in May — and it looks like on of Nokia’s sleekest smartphones to date. The phone features a 5-inch full HD 1080p AMOLED display, a 20-megapixel PureView camera and a very thick case that looks to be about the same width as the 928. According to The Verge, the phone’s case is all aluminum and it will launch in both black and silver. No release timing or pricing were provided.
